New flag capturing idea.

I really think that the current system is highly unrealistic.
Flag are supposed to be a metaphor for conquering an area. What I find stupid is that if you have a enemy squad hiding somewhere in the flag radius you wont be able to capture it even if you clearly own the land.
I was thinking of another system and I'd like some feedback on it. What if you have to capture a flag by building a FB in the flag radius? This will stand for the fortifying of the area by building defense.
If your FB gets destroyed the flag will turn gray and it wont turn until another FB is build on the capping radius. The FB will in this case be the objective to attack or defend. This way you can't capture an area by walking in of the outer edge of the flag radius with some guys and wait for it to turn. You need to fortify and really "conquer" the area.
A rule that is necessary for this idea is that you can't build a FB on a flag if the enemy has beaten you to the punch. You need to take it out before you can set your own.
(All eventual grammatic errors occur because I'm not a native speaker.)

I think it's an great idea. Problem is though, if there's four flags there's no FB's left for the offence... But it's a cool idea and it will make it a little harder. Get a squad or two in there to clear the area and then get a supply truck and build a fb.
Might start some kickass FB v. FB situations. Realistic? I dont know...

Sounds a lot like what cnc mode was conceptualized as.

I just noticed some flaws with this system. On big and open maps like Quinling and Kashan with aircraft they will become easy to take out...
And it will become hard to attack if enemies are pouring from the FB. So instead of a FB to cap maybe we could have a substitute? With all the features a FB has but with no spawning. Like a Fortified Outpost. A new model would be needed but you get the point. And a fix to the Aircraft problem could be to have 2 stationary AA's on the Fortified Outposts.
So...
Firebase:
Can only be build outside flag zones.
Spawnable
All the defenses that are available now.
Fortified Outposts:
Can only be build inside flagzones.
Caps flag.
Un-spawnable
All the defenses that are available now + the ability of more AA emplacements.

Yeah but in CNC mode you have no idea where they are.

i always thought that which team has more forces in flag radius, they are capping.

Problem is not the squad hiding in flag area, the problem is that the flag area is too big. When flag area is so big that you have to spend ages trying to find hiding enemy from the flag area, then its just simply too big.
In city map there is 10 times more hiding spots than in forest for example, so flag area should be smaller in city maps... point is that flag capture radius should depend on what kind of enviorement there is in the flag area =) In some maps, some flags might need some adjusting, thats all imo =)

No, none of these things are problems. No mission task verb even vaguely related to "Capture" allows for enemy forces within the area you're meant to Take/Hold/Deny/Clear/Destroy in vic and so on.
Get organised and get the flag.

Even if you make the flag radius smaller it will still be very arcady with the current system. "No sir, our team can't capture Dam because there some enemy troops that we haven't seen, so we must go look for them in this circle and neutralize the targets that we shouldn't even know are here"
If you use my way of capping flags you'll know that you've taken control because you've set up the fortified outpost and gotten control. If you attack a flag which belongs to the enemy you must find their emplacements and get rid of them to clear the area.
The fortified outpost becomes the backbone of the significant area, instead of a whole landmass with 300m in diameter that you have to attack/defend..

I agree, but strangely everyone seems to hide in the same place...
ex. Muttrah. East City = Mosque or big twin buildings that form an I
