So every time I hit the Project Reality shortcut it goes to a black screen and then it crashes to Desktop. Then if I go in through Regular Battlefield 2 and go to Community and click Custom Games then PR it says I must update the shortcuts.

I have posted with this problem many time before but no one seems to be able to help me.

Posting over and over you need help without providing the information needed to help you
is just wasting our time as well as your own.

When looking for answers please follow these simple steps.

#1 : Read the red stickys First.
New PR proublems are rare so most answers can be found here.

#2. Use the search feature on PRs web site or GOOGLE IT!. Often the quickest way to find what your looking for when you have an error message.

#3. You have spent some time trying to help yourself, but your ready to ask for help:

Please remember to include your basic PC info in your post ;
Operating system = XP, Vista etc.
systems specks = cpu/speed, ram installed, video card/video ram on card
network setup = cable, 4 port 10/100/1000 d- link gamers lounge/ wired connection
and a brief history before and after problem started.
Please describe when your CTD or problem hits and
what you have already tried.
The more info you can give the better you chance of getting a quick answer back. You don't have to write a book, but your basic PC is needed to help you.

And once again on the crash to desktop...all i see is a big black screen for 20 seconds then boom my desktop...I "HAVE" read the sticky's over and over again and still nothing...I even got [IS-DEV]Jake to try and help me and still nothing
so please help

Thanks for the PC specks, now what have you already tried?

Flush out your video cache files
If you still have trouble run battlefield cleaner to flush out your video cache files

Still no joy?

Trash your BF2 cache files
Path:
C:\Users\'your user name here'\Documents\Battlefield 2\mods\bf2\cache

Throw EVERYTHING inside the folder named cache away.
don't worry the files will be replaced with new ones when the game restarts.

Still CTD?

Most LCDs need to be 60Hz or less
Are you using a LCD display?
Check your video setting in your profile
Path:
C:\Users\"your user name here"\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\Default\Video
Should look like this(most LCDs need to be 60Hz or less):

Some other things you can try before you uninstall/reinstall.

Delete the original BF2 folder from your documents folder
Backup your BF2 folder that's inside your documents folder. Once you have a backup delete the original from your documents folder.
Try starting PR from your PR shortcut
a new default folder is created
link to your online account.
If all goes well (CTD gone) all you have to do to get your custom settings back is copy your 'control' file from your backup to the new profile folder.
path:
C:\Users\your user name here\Documents\Battlefield 2\Profiles\0002
note: you may not have a 0002 folder so use 0001



Still having unexplained issues? Then you may need to do a truly clean install of BF2 and the Mod PR.

Sorry but nothing seems to be helping me and and do not wish to Uninstall my battlefield 2 and sandbox and other mods. So if you could find another way to help me please do not hesitate

I just uninstalled and reinstalled everything and yet again i still get the black screen and CTD

Copy and past your 'target' window and 'start in' window from your shortcut so we can see it.

Mine look like this:
Target:
"E:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start /AFFINITY 2 +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1600 +szy 1200 +restart +playerName xxxx +playerPassword xxxx

Start in:
"E:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr"

You should have something like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

Start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr"

Start in: "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" start +modPath mods/pr +menu 1 +fullscreen 1

Target:"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr"
