hey guys,

My mic was working fine on PR before, but i reinstalled PR to fix the connection lost error, and now it doesn't work properly. When i try the mic tet, i get LOADS of random insane noise. But the mic works fine with MSN and sound recorder. Any ideas?

thanks in advance!

-edit- btw even when i disconnect mic and run mic test, there's still sound that starts off like a bassey PR music, then kinda pulses louder. I've run DXDIAG and it came up with "error problem getting sound extra sound info reult code = 0x80004005(generic failure)"

Could you post what soundcard you have, if it's onboard or separate, and also your version of windows.

A quick fix might be to turn off directsound / change the voice in & out settings in any other voice apps.

I'm running windows XP, soundcard is onboard, and it's a realtek HD audio rear output (i think)

cheers

Can't remember (exactly) how to sort that, but have a look on your sound control (toolbar speaker icon) and go options>properties then click recording and from the drop down menu select hd audio input. Make sure mic is selected and not "stereo mix" or "what u hear" or whatever it is.

They can be a bit temperamental, you can also try unplugging and then plugging back in your mic, on the front or rear ports.

Test your mic in the options of BF2, and if it's still not working you could reinstall directx easily from here Download details: DirectX End-User Runtime and see if that has an effect.
