Hello all, for those of you out there that are not military, i offer up my experince of the last 9 years as a real infantryman with the US Army 2 tours to Iraq and still serving. Any thing having to do with Air Assault Ops, APC's, Calling air support (CAS), working with Armor, working with Humers, CQB, anything. just ask :)

thank you.

Good to see more servicemen around.

I'd talk to a PR lead, or current Military Advisor (some of which are also currently serving/have served) about how you can help the team.

Can you compare a Mk-19 Grenade Round to another weapons power. like what would be an equivalent

What is the most effective range of the Mark 19 Mounted Grenade Launcher on a Humvee

its a 40mm HE round, same as the M203GL (American grenadier Kit). though for the MK-19 the round has a larger grain count, its range is 2200m on a tripod for an area target (BMP or small house) same for Humer. wish we had em im PR :) good question Sir. no tracers either but the gunner can see the round fly down range.

will you say the current PR maps are a good reflection on the RL feeling of the countries?

i can only speak for the desert maps, and yes. would be nice if they could do sandstorms and day nigth cycles but that takes a diff engine :) (more vehicles for the US and Brits though on the insurgency maps mainly more Hummers would be more realistic)

One thing i want to ask you. Is your shooting really as bad under pressure as it is with PRs deviation? (not blind fire, but aimed shots at a target while theres a chance of or there was incoming fire)

I know it varies from person to person, but if you can give approximate feeling.

No, A trained infantryman is conditioned to be able to fire while stressed, we are even acurate while room clearing (slight crouch)

when im prone and on my sights im my most acurate,
next is kneeling
then standing

when you add movement then of course your shot group would worsen at distance.
in real life in combat for well trained and experinced infnatrymen, the rounds land where we aim, now this is for semi auto assault rifles (M4, M16) on single shot, you go to burst or full auto and your waisting ammo adn jsut doing suppresive fire.

question off the top of my head:

in a small arms firefight, how does the mental paranoia about getting hit by a round relate to the actual situation? do insurgents really lay down accurate fire or do they spray because they are afraid to get hit? and is there a particular distance from the aggressors where you go "ok, we are somewhat outside their accurate range, we can move with a bit more confidence". or is it always a threat?

how good are insurgents really with weapons when under pressure? i assume they are a bit more disciplined than this:

hi loki,
first i want to express my respect to you for doing service in a real war.

here my question:
how much is the service in iraq comparable with a fictional war against a serious regular army such as russians or chinese? what would be the same where the difference?

For the most part.... they spray and pray, but there snipers are good

for infantrymen its muscle memory, we do it so much in trainng that we dont have to think about it, and the thoughts are always in the back of your mind, but during the shooting it dosent effect you (after is another story, lol)

i think they ad the deviation for game play not for realism gentlmen, :)

First, I want to thank you for your service. Interesting that you should make this post on this, of all days.

My questions: How often have you seen the use of bayonets (on either side)? What kinds of weapons did your opponents equip themselves with, other than the stereotypical AK/SKS/G3s? Were there a lot of molotovs and/or the likes of these?

with the war in iraq we are combating a hidden force that looks like the civilians
and there are no stable lines, if we were to fight a regular force there would be a front and both sides would be in uniform.

this is supposed to be a tactical questions only thread guys, if you have a question other than a tactical one jsut PM me thank you.

What do you prefer in your weapons? 5.56 or 7.62?

i like 5.56, but anythingpast 300m i would want an acurate 7.62, i dont like the AK due to its inacuacy at long distance and weight, i love my M4

Gentlment please keep your questions confined to INGAME tactics for PR, any other qeustion please PM me, thank you.

i will not respond to anymore off topic questions, thank you.
