Would Lynxes get their TOWs back in the war depicted in PR?

both the MEC and the Chi have...tanks!
the Lynx used to have TOWs irl but these were removed for a few reasons, such as the apache is just much better at the CAS role.
But if such a major war broke out, would the British use their TOW armed agile helis?
in PR terms, this would be a CAS chopper that isn't particularly good at attacking non-armoured targets, which has clear implications to gameplay since the Attack helis are pretty Vs everything except AA.
I'm sure there are other 'if there was a major war would we do X?' ideas around, so feel free to post them as well.

I support Lynxs with tows. Adds to variation in CAS if balanced well, allows maps to be balanced differently, and I don´t care if technically they are used now, they can be used, they were used and I am sure in the future there wouldn´t be problems shoving tows on them if there was a shortage of CAS available.

If a major conventional war broke out between most of the middle east, china, the UK, the US, russia, and a host of other smaller factions, you can bet that the armed forces of the world are going to pull every single asset they have out to play, including a lot of mothballed or decommissioned assets. (Or even experimental units)
So short answer, yes, I'm sure the Brits would try the Lynx in an anti tank capacity.

Erm, lets not get into that argument shall we, because we both know there are things that are and aren´t at the moment.

Probably. I'd love to have them in PR just so I can go pewpew with 'em.
If it would actually get used would depend on various factors:
What kind of terrain are we fighting on?
Are there enough Apaches?
Is there an enormous armour threat?
Are the Apaches supplied sufficiently, enough pilots, etc, etc.
etc

Alot of things to be precise.

I'm just gonna spurt this out and hope that I don't start a flame war, but it has been stated before that PR has its line between realism and gameplay. It has to be fun as well as based on real life, To a extent.
TOW equipped lynx's would represent the British military's rapid asset deployment. It would be that small threat that could take out of your assets, but its small, fast, and pretty darn hard to kill. This is represented in Ejod Desert, where the US Army has a single TOW equipped Humvee to counter 1 T-72, and 3 BTR-60s. I'd be a pretty good idea considering we get a map just slightly too small for the Apache (2x2 km).

It depends on how many TOWs and Lynx AH7s they have left. The newer Lynx AH9 utility helicopters were never configured to carry the TOW, and once the Lynx Wildcat comes into service, the oldest airframes, the AH7s, would be the first phased out. Lynx Wildcat is earmarked to be used in the scout role, but the MOD has not stated what weapons, if any, they plan to fit to it.
As for what will become of the TOWs, I don't think that has been stated either. If any guided missiles get fitted to the Lynx Wildcat, they would probably be Hellfire and/or Brimstone missiles rather than TOW.

I'm all for TOW equipped lynx, especially on brit maps where the apache is overkill.

Ye, the Navy Lynx Wildcat is certainly kitted out to take Anti-Ship Missiles, Torpedoes etc but only heard rumours of some armaments for the Army one but there has definitely been talk about it.

Suggestions, even suggestions in disguise as questions (like this one), go in the suggestions forum.

all due respect bob, I do not actually know which way the discussion should go. Which is why I put it in the discussion part of the forum. I've been here long enough to know where to post cheers.
I'd like to see the lynx for gameplay reasons, but I don't know if its realistic, or even desirable given that the lynx is very hard to control in just a transport role let alone a cas role. Though there aren't actually any maps it can feature atm apart from Qinling with the rest of the British's unseen choppers. Which is why a discussion is warranted.

There are a lot of factors that would make this logical that we can't know. I'm no expert on British weapon systems but I could tell you that if there was a war of this scale I could make a sound argument that there would be a lot of old stuff being put back into the US inventory.

In a war there is no overkill, you play for realism...

Good point.
All in for TOW armed lynx?

In PR, you play for fun....
There is a significant amount of balancing required in PR. The apache was removed from Al Basrah to keep the brits from raping the caches. A TOW armed Lynx would be a reasonable replacement for that.
