Run BF2 once (i suggest you create/retrieve your account then too to avoid having to leave again after having made it in PR) then you should be able to run PR. For some reason (might be something weird with windows 7) ,for pr.exe to function properly you need to have run BF2.exe at least once. Hope that works, best of luck.

Yep thats the reason why. You need your profiles directories there for PR to run, so reclaim them from your online account with vanilla BF2. pr.exe expects the profiles to be there, and because it runs before BF2 does, if this is your first time running the program , they won't be there.

I can't actually think of a way around this ... because no matter what pr.exe will always start before BF2. But once the profiles are there then there is no problem.

this is an extremely bad problem that is plaging the community, and the answer lies with the new pr.exe itself. it simply isn't compatable with vista very well, 7 especially. i'm afraid nothing the community offers for help will fix it at this point, the .exe itself needs to be re-programmed.

The fact that it works fine on one Vista/Win 7 users system and not on another, suggests logically that the system is the cause as it is different and the exe is not ... and that is where you need to start looking for the problem ... at what is different between the two systems and then you will find the likely cause of the problem.

From my experience (and that has been of remoting into users systems to fix it) , 100% of the time the problem has been down to some very weird configuration on the users system.

This is what you need to look at and address, because the problem is fixable by the end user, as the problem arises from their system.

The cases where the problem is NOT the cause of the end users system and IS the fault of the pr.exe ... is like the situation with the steam version ... where ALL the users get the problem.

Actually you are quite wrong, as the community has discovered fixes for many of the problems encountered and these have worked for other people. I read all the posts in here and their problems and solutions have given me ideas of ways to improve it so that these problems can be bypassed if possible. It has been reprogrammed for 0.9 and hopefully will be a lot more robust ... and it has been the communities efforts that have helped in that , as I would not have even been aware of the cause of the vast majority of issues if it had not been for them.

And at this point therefore ... I would ask that you stop spreading FUD and try to contribute in a helpful way please.
