"Static" Player Models

Ok, as most of you know, with the many assets we have lack of grunts is a problem.

So, my idea is this: We could have animated models that are part of the terrain/vehicle that look like other soldiers.

A few examples of where this would be useful (These are not suggestions, just trying to explain the idea):
Main Bases - having "Soldiers" in the bunkers etc. manning the Saws and .50 cals or whatever, and the Domes of Death symbolise them killing people.

Player Controlled Mortars - I know there's the PR Dev highlight about the mortar - but it seems to me to be very rare that 81mm mortars would operate on their own. So, for a Player Controlled mortar battery you COULD have 3 mortars with 2 or 3 "soldiers" all controlled by one actual player, who could aim the mortars like they are done in FH2, and having the Animated soldiers firing the mortars, adjusting them etc. and shouting "Fire!"

Commander Area - With those new Commander base thingys you could have a few radio operators etc. making it look more busy and realistic.

But yeah, there are things like that where the player themselves doesn't really need to be there, or if it was a position for a real player no one would do it because it's so boring. This would also let us have cool things without reducing the number of fighting troops by too much. It could even increase the number of fighting infantry we have.

*Edit*
Gazz you're a genius, Static Player Models :D

i suggested the "commander area" idea in the thread about it , and i agree.

have some "static" player models looking at the map and pointing, or sitting down looking at a map or on a radio ect

using DoDs to symbolise MG arcs on some INS maps might work.

Read the top.

They are not suggestions. The suggestion is that we should have Static player models to represent different things. Something that is not being discussed, and doesn't even show up on the forums. So please actually read it before saying they are resuggestion Behr.

Well i like the ideas, especially the mortars. I mean a single mortar would not operate in them middle of a desert all on its own. Would this mean though that the mortar strike would be a grouping of 3 blasts and not just one?

I'd like to have civilians wander/stand/sit around the little villages... (maybe some goats too) :)

The static soldiers idea is cool, as long as I don't encounter them in the combat area...

i think it would be dumb to have people standing around that i cant kill. motor team would be awesome if you could make it a 3 person thing where each person carries a piece.

They would be at the main base - you shouldn't even be firing anywhere near them, and quite a few have shields around them (especially aircraft carriers) that you can't shoot through anyway.

Neither should you be shooting at civilians - so what does it matter?

I agree whicht this, maybe doing a kind of NPC driving trunks will be awesome, expecialy if he is going to be at commander disposiel.

About have increse the infantry, it great. having boots at our side making the squadron alot biguer, will not only make the fiegths more heavy, but make a severe Reasons to all players stay whicht squad leader, because having alot of gruuts will be alway good, and besides. this will make all players unexperienced having fun alway they play.

to make litter lag and also better gameplay, a HIGHT DICIPLINE, will be need, this Boots will only obey, and ONLY OBEY. the commands o squad leader. having a default ''folow'' the squad leader tatic, but going ahed him. insteand beside.

but to be realistic, this is hardcoded. and maybe it will brings heavy LAGGY, to PROJECT REALITY.

also this will be not a ease task, because will need frist the work of comun Boots and a sigleplayer mod. before we can move this to be a Multiplayer Asset.

if we will be otismist, this will bring severe FAME to PR, because we will be the frist game how make a MASSIVE realitic game whicht both bots and Players, working toguether whicht estrategis, to win a front line fight.

And i also defend 128 players server, evem fearing this will turn HEAVY but HEAVY lag.

I'm not onabout more actual players, but if we replace some of the things Players have to do atm with static player models then those players r free to do other stuff.

i like it, and to HAAN4, he's not talking about AI's which follow you, he's talking about static or animated models which essentially repeat motions over and over again just to look nice and pretend their doing something, such as fire mortars when you call in a mortar strike. could do the same with artillery. essentially its to represent something that's being done which requires man power IRL but doesn't require any actual live players to do in game

Static "bots" on mainbase MGs wouldn't be very nice. Some of us like to defend the main.

But all the original poster is talking about is static bots on a unclappable flags that are in a dome of death which there is no point going near if you are hostile forces..

Can't see why i would want precious man hours spent of the devs time "glittering" up a uncappable flag ?

Sorry Herbiie i can't see why we need the glitter

That was only 1 use. Lots lots of possibilities for Soldiers that aren't Player controlled or AI.

We already have a Tank Loader (He shouts "Up!") which no body controls, and if we had similar things to this then it would cut down on the number of useless jobs so we can have more boots on the ground fighting.
