I'm getting into modeling

So I'm getting pretty decent at modeling in Max but I'd like to practice on something that might make it into the game some day.
I'm thinking something simple like a static building or something, I can do interiors well.
I also started working on a RG-33 MRAP, so far I have done the main hull but damn it will take me a long time to finish something like that but oh how nice it would be on koringal...
I think one thing really missing from PR is a map that takes place on American soil maybe, or nothing but Pure urban map with 4km squared of just strait up urban buildings, maybe downtown Baghdad.
I'm really open to anything and I have quite a bit of free time right now, don't have any classes until January.
don't rely on me to deliver something though, like I said I'm just practicing, but maybe I could practice on something people can use.

Which version of max?
If you just started, a good thing to do even if it sounds stupid is to just make super simple things just to learn the processes.
If you have a mic, I can teach you how to UVW map a crate just to learn.
PM me.

If you want to model, you'd better learn to UV map etc. too. Apparently we have a lot of people who can model...but there's loads of work left after that.

Thats the problem about Maps that are in places like that. The statics, which we don't have anything suitable for unless you'd like to use the crappy AF and EU statics. Unless you wanna do something like Hawaii or Alaska.

I could do some US statics, some suburbia houses with some business buildings or something maybe.
As for the UV mapping, I was using Blender and did some UV mapping of a box and a sphere. was pretty easy, I'll have to follow the tutorial on 3ds max that i have but these dvds I bought seem to be teaching the ins and outs pretty fast.
Also, does anyone have some good reference pictures of the damn RG-33 II (4x4 recon version) like some top down views/side/rear/front. I can't find any good ones on google.

I threw this together in about 3 hours last night, the dimensions are not right as far as height and width and what not but its the start. I really need to find some good reference pics.
I'm using 3ds 2010

-edit- removed pic cause it was horrible and useless
coming along nice, just threw a simple armor plate texture on it for now.
Can anyone tell me how many polygons i should aim for or can have max?

I'd hate to say this but, only versions up to 3Ds Max9 (Not 2009, but 9) can import models into BF2.
No hard feelings, I ran into this problem as well.
