So... i went out and got a 4890 1gb card..... =) which is one of the best purchases i think i've made in a while (OMG so much better than my 8500)

There is just one simple little problem. ^_^ My computer keeps randomly turning off.

So I looked inside and... viola~... 300w power supply.

So, psu you guys got in mind that would be preferably less than 80 dollars? xD I kinda ran out of money buying the card.... > > i need the rest for bills.. and... car insurance.... ._.

If you can stretch by $9, get THIS.


Although one of THESE should be able to power the card, although I can't guarantee it.

You only need 500W-600W in reality, unless you are running an ub3r overclocked multi-GPU rig.

Antec is a good brand. This 500 Watter should run everything just fine:

Also, PC Power and Cooling makes GREAT PSU's. This one, even though it says 470W, should perform better than the antec PSU aformentioned:

OCZ supposedly makes good PSU's. However, the gamexstream I got was really noisy. I RMA's it, and got another noisy one. If you buy one of these modular PSU's, research to see if the noise is good on that particular model, for OCZ may have cleaned up their act. The benefit is that OCZ's mail in rebate process is easy, albeit slow.

I suggest the 600W over the 500W, if you do choose OCZ:

My personal favourite is the PC Power and Cooling PSU, as it has a single rail and a 5 year warranty. You really can't go wrong with it, and its supposedly silent. I'd definitely recommend it over the modular OCZ PSU's I have shown you, and it likely beats the Antec PSU in power output. The only downfall is bad efficiency, and its lower wattage. However, 470W should be plenty enough for anything you throw at it, even if you throw in another 4890 (though don't quote me on that).

The 5 year warranty alone should be convincing enough to forgo the Mail-In-Rebate required by the other PSU's and just buy the equally priced PC Power and Cooling PSU .

Well.... Until i have money I guess my janked up dual-psu rig will have to go as a dual psu rig haha.... xD I really need to set it up better... and find out how to change the bios to not have to have certain things hooked up... ._. stupid HP mobo...
