Suppressed running.

So we've got the suppressed effect when bullets land close to us. Then there's a code that says something like 'if a bullet hits withing a 3m radius, do this.' (I have no idea how it works).

Wouldnt it be possible to have a suppressed running animation? Little crouched, hand on the helmet and running like hell?

What do you think?

UJ mean like an animation so it looks like the guys head is swaying? I think thats a good idea but might be hard to do

I don't think he means like that. I think instead of running like normal when being shot at he means running but maybe half way between standing and crouched and holding his helmet. Ill try to find something like it in Band of Brothers or something.

I get what he means. It would be cool, though maybe hardcoded or something, as suppression is actually in VBF2 (Just very rarely), and is just for your view, not the model changing.

Would look retarded whit bullets landing all the times right next to you and having the character ''strokin'' all the time

What he means is crouched sprinting/running. Like in Red Orchestra for example.

that would be very annoying and hardcoded
and thats not really the purpose of being suppressed, being suppressed is like a warning

Soldiers already lean a little when running, and to make the effect work properly the hit boxes would need to match the changed animations. I like the idea, however:

The idea of suppression is that you aren't running away, you are suppressed (hiding behind cover and not firing back). You shouldn't be moving/running/etc while suppressed, you should be cowering in fear (hence the visual effects of suppression).

well I think it could also depend on how close the bullet landed. If it whized right by your head I think this animation would be ok

And until a dev says it' HC'd, i won't believe it.

Yeah hitboxes would probably be a problem.

A new animation would obviously be needed.

Thing is that the current sprint animation doesnt look very... sprintish at all.

this is a good ideia, but quite fancy, since we have real important things to do in game,

after the 5 times the guys plays, of course they will have fun, but it will become comun, and will not add much to our mod.

any way, good for latter paths, like PR 1.5 maybe.

Perhaps a suppression induced 'soiling your pants' animation ?

I don't know about an animation, but I sure miss the free fall **** your pants sound from BF1942 when playing PR :)

(takes about 30 seconds of free fall to trigger the sounds after a long scream)
