Whenever i join a server or start a new round my VOIP will take awhile to start working. it wont send or receive. it just started doing this a week or so ago.

i can use mumble no problem while its warming up or whatever.

once it kicks on, it's fine

This thread might help, look to 2nd post, do not know if this still does not need to be done, but read it anyways, its talking about firewall and bf2's voip program.

Some system specs, including sound card might help if that does not help.

You must have missed this post. It's 14 down from yours:
VOIP/microphone problem/Fixed!
May work for you.

When looking for answers please follow these simple steps.
#1 : Read the red stickys First.
New PR problems are rare so most answers can be found here.

#2. Use the search feature on PRs web site or GOOGLE IT!. Often the quickest way to find what your looking for when you have an error message.

#3. You have spent some time trying to help yourself, but your ready to ask for help:

Please remember to include your basic PC info in your post :
Operating system = XP, Vista etc.
systems specks = cpu/speed, ram installed, video card/video ram on card
network setup = cable, 4 port 10/100/1000 d- link gamers lounge/ wired connection.
And a brief history before and after problem started.
Please describe when your CTD or problem hits and
what you have already tried.
The more info you can give the better you chance of getting a quick answer back.
You don't have to write a book, but your basic PC is needed to help you.

Good luck

Has anyone ever had a problem that sometimes you join a server and you press B you can't speak (on Squad window, the yellow speakers indicating you are saying something don't light up) and you have to restart PR (not change or rejoin server)? It's pretty annoying. Rare, but annoying nonetheless.

I was just about to post a new thread about this problem when I came upon yours. The VOIP takes about 5 min to start working. During which you can't hear anyone on VOIP nor they you. When I press to talk during that time the little green speaker will show, but no one can hear me. I'm not sure when it started happening, but I've gone through three OS installations and repeated BF2 and PR installs. I'm wondering if it has something to do with Win 7 or the use of Mumble.

I thought I solved it the other day when I went into the microphone sound properties and unchecked 'Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device'. I thought that since I was also using Mumble at the same time it might be having a conflict, but to no avail.

It's definately not like the other posts. Those guys can use VOIP in the beginning, but then it cuts out on them. This problem is the exact opposite. I'll finish posting and check some stuff out. Keep me updated and I'll do the same.

EDIT: Try running PR without Mumble and see if it works. My did. I also checked to see if turning off mumble during the problem solved it and it didn't. So...perhaps something conflicting with Mumble.?

Aright, some new info.

I started PR before I started Mumble. I just clicked the shortcut, waited till I got to the menu screen, then I Alt+Tab'ed out and started Mumble. I immediately joined a training server and got a response from my mic check. It seems that Mumble is messing with the ingame VOIP.

I then exited out of PR, kept Mumble running and started PR again. This time immulating the starting of Mumble first and then PR. I joined the same training server, same SQ that answered my mic check the last time and didn't get any reply for approx. 3-4 min.

I'm not sure why it takes 3-4 min for the two voice programs to figure stuff out, and I don't have a clue where to start fixing the problem, other than starting PR first and Alt+Tab'ing out to start Mumble.

Maybe and IRQ interrupt... I'll keep looking for an answer but would like someone elses opinion.

P.S I have Win 7. Do you have Win XP or Win 7?
