i was wondering, in pr, if a grenade is thrown and you see it, and the rest of your sq doesn't, if you jump on it, will it contain the blast and only kill you or does the engine limit that?

I don't think it does, same with the way an IED will blow a cache even if there is a building in-between them.
If that could be codeable it would kick ***, but it would make sense if you couldn't be revived.

This has been discussed as a suggestion on these forums before, I can't seem to find the discussion though.

Basically, the idea was for a grenade blast to fire shrapnel in all directions as you'd expect in the real world but all those projectiles (there'd need to be a fair few of them per grenade) would take extra processing by the server. It
could work. Players and other objects could stop shrapnel, protecting what is behind them but it'd be too much strain on the server, I believe.
but it would make sense if you couldn't be revived.
ORLY?

Yeah that would be great!
Imagine a hero that saw a grenade dive inside their building. No time to get to cover. "BANZAI!"

Well, he survived because he laid on it with his rucksack, which contained a radio. And apparently also his solid bronze balls.

True. I'm not saying anyone could survive that as there's many things that could work for or against you in that situation. I know there's many brave soldiers that have lost their lives after such selfless acts in the past. My point was that depending on the situation, not all grenade wounds will kill instantly.
Unless someone finds a non server-stressing method for this to work, it wont matter anyway.

Cpl Dunham died doing that. They actually renamed the Marine barracks here after here because he was formerly stationed here.

yesterday i pwned an enemy humvee with my grende launcher while it was driving. Two nades in the face and it was on fire. But the driver had time to get out and run away bleeding.

This is supposed to be reality based, and though there have been soldiers that throw themselves on grenades to save their comrades, and often win very shiny medals, this is not the norm so any testing or working on such things probably isn't going to happen.

granted there have been a few reports of guys diving on grenades. And you know what, they got the Medal of Honor. But this is project reality and in all reality no one jumps on a grenade. Someone yells "SHIT GRENADE" and everyone books it out of the area.

Would be a decent addition.
One time I talked a collaborator into sitting next to a truck that had an IED inside it, when a UK Troop approached to detain him, the collaborator jumped ontop of the IED and told me to detonate it. When I did it blew the collaborator 40ft in the air but the UK Troop received minor shock. Interesting, if you ask me.

Today I've seen 3 times a grenade landing between me and my squad mate.
I said RUN GRENADE!
We both ran and we both survived on all the 3 occasions.
However, If a grenade enters a building, I would not hesitate on jumpint into the grenade.
Perhaps making a rally point on top of a grenade could nerf it? XD
