So, basicly, every time i start up PR and begin to play my computer produces that awefull beep of doom and my mouse stops working all together, it takes a restart to get it back.

Ive narrowed it down to about four causes

1. My computers over heating

2. My Mouse drivers are broken (unlikely its a plug and play mouse)

3. My motherboard (witch btw is 7 years old and is an AGP) is FUBAR

4. My HDD is over loaded and is putting to much strain on my processer making it in turn over heat and completely loose track of what its doing

Specs are:
3ghz P4
1gb RAM
Nvidea 7600gs AGP

Installed new PSU, ram and GC about 3 years ago now, its well out dated but being poor i cant afford much else.

Never had this problem before about 3 weeks ago.

Any help is much appreciated

EDIT: its not only happening in-game, according to my mum it happened this morning while doing the shoping, makes me think that its not over heating as she was only useing firefox

Do you have the same problems with PS/2 mice and USB mice?
Same problem with a different mouse?

It sounds like it could be your motherboard, with the controller for USB running hot perhaps. Check that you have good airflow, use HWMonitor to track CPU temps and that any headsinks that are cooling components are secure.

(don't forget the static strap)

I dont own a USB mouse to test it with, im using a PS/2 one atm, and i tryed another mouse and it still did it.

I hasnt actually done it since about a day after i posted the original thread, it seams to have gone back to normal, ill repost if it happens again
