Commanding help!

Just played the kashan desert map, on the US side. As the inevitable defeat draw near, I said to myself "Let's give the command a try". First thing that frustrated me was the damn uav , the controls on that thing and, my ability to pinpoint it's location on the map 
. Is there any way to tell the uav to go to a specific location and just to fly arround that area?. You can gues how hard it was for me to mark accurate enemy possitions for the team, when I didn't realy know where the uav was going.
I don't know if it's doable, but wouldn't be easier if we could put markers while flying the uav, so we don't need to draw the map every time and calculate positions. I mean that command menu that appears when right cliking on the map to appear when right cliking with the uav cursour.
I find commanding interesting, but I suck at it ... thus, some tips would be very apreciated.
