pr.exe crash

Alright heres my problem, I went through all the steps as followed,
Installed BF2, installed v1.41, installed v1.5
Installed PR .87 Core, installed PR .87 Levels.
I installed BF2 and PR on a NON-admin account, after installing and restarting my comp I changed my account into an administrative one. I went into my computer because I had deleted the shortcuts. I went into --> C:/Program Files(x86)/EA Games/BattleField2/mods/pr, I created a shortcut for the pr App and tried to run it but within seconds it said "pr.exe has stopped working" and then it proceeded to try and work out the problem and failed. Then I tried to run the file straight from the folder, same problem. It says the same thing when I right click and run in administrator mode.
I am stuck, at first I thought maybe it should have been saved to plain old program files and not (x86) but am not sure what the diffrence is.
Specs:
Dell XPS Studio- Windows 7 x64- Antivirus: Trend Micro- windows firewall is turned off.
Please help, I really want to get on and gaming again. All info appreciated.

I cut the whole EA games folder from program files(x86) and put them in the regular one and it still did not work.

Put it back in the (x86) folder.
Right click your PR shortcut.
Select properties from bottom on list.
Choose the 'shortcut' tab if it doesn't display by default.
You should see the
target' and 'start in' windows.
You should have this in your target:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe"
This in start in:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr"
If not copy and paste each line exactly as it appears here into your windows.
Now I'm still running Vista, but I think I remember reading for W7 to set run as admin but not in compatibility mode. Use search to check.
Good luck.

I followed what you said but still no luck, it looks like it starts loading for a second and then BAM, pr.exe has stopped working. Right before it crashes it asks me if i want to allow this program to make changes to my computer, when i hit yes it just keeps crashing. It happens instantly, like within a second of me hitting yes.

I have this exact problem, with the slight difference that my computer is not 64 bit. But both PR 0.87 and PR_SP 0.87 crash to the desktop when their respective exe's are referenced... really annoying, I was looking forward to playing today. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, nothing. BF2 is a freshly updated to 1.5 install as well...

Man, I just spent forever uninstalling the entire game and mods with Revo Uninstaller, and cleaning the registry, reinstalled everything exactly as the installation guide describes... to no avail!!! What in the world, people? I was looking forward to playing this all day at work today, hehe. Oh well.. I'm sure this will be resolved soon, back to vanilla for now I guess.
And sorry for the double post..

Take ownership of PR folder ("C:\Program Files (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\
PR") and reinstall PR. Or if you have friend who can give you PR.exe get copy of that and paste it in the folder.
To take ownership:
Hard way:
Windows 7 Take Ownership & Grant Permissions to Access Files & Folder
Easy way:
Add Take Ownership Option Shortcut in Right Click Menu of Windows 7
I believe the problem is that Windows 7 doesn't let the installer create the PR.exe, happened to me too, but I just took ownership of the folder and copied PR.exe from friend.

The whole UAC thing in Windows 7 (User Access Control) ... is an almighty fubar. Its a shame , because it was a good idea in vista.
Battlefield 2 AND Pr will both need to be installed in an administrator account and given elevated privilages (you will find that you have to do this with virtually all old XP programs that need to do anything on your system). And administrator account is actually a limited account that can be raised to admin level by accepting these little pop up nag boxes. In a standard user account you will need to enter a password to elevate anything to admin level.
To elevate your files to have administrator privileges (and here I am just doing this from memory .. as I am on XP at the minute ... but I will check later and update if necessary) ... right click the BF2.exe , and after the pr.exe, and go to properties. Then on one of the tabs there will be a tick box with something about "run this program as administrator" or something like that. Tick it. Should be fine after wards.
But you need to install software in your main admin account not in a user account (it should be fine to install it in a user account but because the way MS changed the UAC ... its not always). And here is the rub about UAC ... its useless. Without going into details ... it is easily bypassed by malware. So it ends up being just a really annoying irritation for end users and developers ... but no protection whatsoever from viruses and trojans. In a standard user account it does offer protection due to the password entry ... however in an Admin account ... you may as well switch it off. Its no protection whatsoever.
Hopefully Microsoft will do something about it ... but at the moment they are ignoring the issue and pretending its not happening ... even though proofs of concept of the exploit are published on the internet.
So rule 1 ... when you browse the net ... do it through a standard user account on Windows 7 ... because you have no protection in an admin account.

I uninstalled everything, deleted the folders, made sure my account was admin, reinstalled everything and it seems to be working like a charm. You have to run it in admin mode for it to start. Didn't get to play much but this is the 1st time I've been able to run anything on high and it is so much more fun than when I played before. Sorry for all the doubleposts and ****, thank you for an amazing game.

Hehe just a minute folks, we aren't done here, I've still yet to fix mine
Ok, so far it seems like everyone else that has had this problem simply reinstalled everything and it worked... I didn't originally think that was my issue because I had tried uninstalling/reinstalling the BF2 collection in the right order, like I mentioned previously. But at the time I had a virus, I believe, or some sort of malware, and it could have been causing some corruption or confusion. So at this moment I am using Revo Uninstaller to clean every trace of BF2 and Net Framework from my computer, and I'll be using CCleaner and Registry Mechanic to further clean it up, just to make sure. Then I will MAKE SURE I reinstall it all in the right order.
And then, some hours later, I will tell whether it worked.. if it don't, heck I may as well just reinstall windows, that virus really did a number on my machine.
Ah'll be bahck...
