I have 9800gt and it's more than enough for pr. Should be pretty cheap nowadays too.

You also need more than 2GB of memory to run the game smoothly on higher resolutions in some maps
(Fallujah west and Korengal)

I use 1680x1050 res and all settings high antialias 2x (tho 8x goes but sometimes when a lot of stuff is going on might lag a little, might be ram/hd/cpu issue too).
But yea, you need also ram atleast 2gb as stated.
Edit: I'm not sure about 60fps haven't checked but it surely doesn't lag at all on those high settings so it must be something around 40-60 at all times.

I can hit 80 FPS on less object ridden maps (Kashan, Muttrah) the medium maps with my 9600 GSO 512 and 1.8Ghz C2D(Soon to change

) Highest settings, highest ingame resolution possible, and AA at 2x.

The Nvidia 9800 & 9600 both run PR on max settings. My 9800GTX, 4GB RAM, 2.3Ghz CPU, run PR at 100 on all maps and record at 70. The 9800 is ~100 USD, IIRC.

Heres my specs, my pc is going on 3 years old.
Intel core 2 duo E6400
2 gigs ram
Nvidia Geforce 7950 GT 512 mb
19 inch samsung Syncmaster 941bw
windows xp
I run PR at 1440x900 everything set to max. It runs smooth as silk. My 7950 video card is ancient by todays standards, so you should be able to get something better for super cheap. Like others have said, a 9800 sounds like a good choice and is probably available in your price range. Also, tech sites like Gizmodo and toms hardware have periodic guides of the best video cards for various price ranges. I suggest checking out those sites.
