Im just about to buy a new headset...but recently ive come back to PR after a year break or so and it seems not many people are using their mics for communication anymore.

They are... just not in normal VOIP, more and more servers have official Mumble channels within the official mumble server.

This is much more fun than the normal voip, the sound is superior, and the ability to communicate with anyone near you instead of just the squad, and with squad leaders like commander, makes it even much more good tool.

Also, for infantry squads, having the 3D surround positional audio helps a ton!

if it has voip in the squad name, they are usually using VOIP

Welll when i first saw this thread i was thinking to my self..... Is he serious?? ... hah Soo yes pepole still use their mics ... some times people dont for what ever reason such as the server is slow or its a differnt language speaking server .. or they are just lazy .... lol yes mostly everyone is using mics ( Go get mumble and enjoy the future of PR ) ^_^

Mumble = Go look for it in the forums you will be happy you did

It's pretty much a requirement for an asset heavier than a sniper kit these days, and considering the number of those assets out there I'd say that lots of people use mics. I, for one, make them a requirement in any heavy asset squads I create.
