Future of the communty factions ?

Hi, I'm Sgt-Doctor, a French Forces DEV, and I am wondering about the future of the communty factions. After the 0.9, will you put more strenght on the comfacs ?
Everyday, something scares me, when I post on our private forum or on our subforum, when I work for French Forces, that all we are doing will not be used, that we arrive too late when our work will be done and that PR would be dead.
It's a pleasure to do my work of developer, because I like PR. Incrementing a French Army is a dream for me since I started to play PR (0.25), and I guess it's the same for all the developers involved in the development of a comfac. I have spent a lot of (maybe too much) time on FF (and so for PR), as many people here, and I will still do it because I think the comfacs are a capital gain for PR. But working in the darkness, without certainties is not reassuring. I work for you (because I like your work), and however I doubt that you know me, and this goes certainly for other people. And that is unfortunately frustrating, but we do with that.
So, will you help the communty factions to be finished for the 1.0 (the biggest release before the 0.9

), or will our work finish on nothing ?
It's kinda a cry from the heart. I hope (me and all the FF devteam) to bring my stone to PR.
(Many thanks Hauteclocque for the translation.)

If the quality is good it will make it into PR. Look at the Canadians, IDF and Russians.

You're right Brummy but there is a point when there is just a ridiculous amount of content - even now with the addition of IDF and HAMAS as confirmed factions there is just simply too many factions to play, sure there is choice but with the round times and ticket amounts so large people aren't getting the chance to play every map, and get a taste of every faction.

I've been around for a while, and from the looks of the progress you Frenchmen have made I doubt that you'll be finished when PR has died rather you'll be finished while PR is alive and kicking.
Very few other factions have got as many maps in the making as you, which is fantastic imo. With only a very small selection of assets you could probably be implemented, you are already on the way with light vehicles and an APC, once you get a chopper up and running you're probably ready to be played ingame imo.
You have very talented modellers, texturers etc, your only weak on exporters afaik, and you're working fast. I'm sure the PR DEVs will support you to an extent, but remember even without French tasks their dance card is full. So keep going! you won't make it to .9, same as the Germans etc, but I have high hopes for a number of factions for subsequent patches.
disclaimer - this is my personal appraisal, not an official team opinion.

thats ok imo, after 6months you want to still be finding new things really, not after 6months saying "oh...played every map, played every faction, used every weapon, I'm done, back to COD4 for me"
the only real problem is filesize of the PR installer.

The biggest reason I keep coming back to PR is the huge amount of content in the game. So even if it was a 100 gb installer I would still download and play it, even more happy than now. With bittorent the PR downloads are always fast for me, though I dont know how it works for people with bad connections.
Good luck with the french forces, I am looking forward to them alot. I dont have any knowledge of developing so I cant help you, but I will play the shit out of your faction when it is added.

i think that one day there could be to many factions but atm the amount we have in production will be just fine for our player base atm giving a wide range of playable options

I personally don't feel that at all, the replay ability with PR is infinite, even with the MEC, US and Chinese there is still so much to do.

No he didn't? He said that without new content you can get tired of PR.
Or I dunno, why would he say "oh...played every map, played every faction, used every weapon, I'm done, back to COD4 for me" and use it as an example if he wasn't tired himself?

Personaly, i feal that once we get the French, German, Australian, Canadian and what ever other factions are in the making the game will become so diverse that even if there is no release for a good 4 or 5 months ill still be enjoying it, right now im bored of it because of the lack of diversity, i play the same maps day in day out. (i still play though because there will be atleast one new thing i learn each day)
As for the french faction's release, even if PR dies id still love to play with it

well, I'll not get tired of PR until a better game comes our way, but alot of players do get bored

The problem of the communityfaction is simply, that everyone wants to have "his own army" in the game. I can understand this of course, but this leads to many many communityfactions with only a few people working on each. Therefor they will take a lot of time until they get released. The community-factions would not need help by the Devs, if there were just a few projects and every talanted modder would work for them.
However, I know that it is difficult to motivate people to work on a faction, they can't identify with...

I don't agree with that : usual players know very well maps and factions, and everyone is bored with one map/faction or another, because he played it too much !
AS PR is approaching the best he can do with a game engine who's about to die a little more everyday, the real wealth that PR will be able to bring, offering the longest life possible to this awesome mod, will be an opening of factions and maps. This way the game will continue to offer new contents and to renew the pleasure we all take or took to this game.
I hope every faction getting completed will be added as long as there are players still enjoying this game.

Yes, that was an answer of the Dev. Personnaly I would (100go is exagerated), as long as it brings something more, even with a small connection.
But a V1 can remain a V1 and you just have to download an update, with a new faction and maps, or take the full last version. We didn't downloaded any giga in months, it wouldn't have hurted us to DL 1 Go from time to time to get new content !
Imagine the next version can provide many new factions ! You can just release the new version, with 2 new factions, and few weeks later release 2 more until every content available is provided.
