When i tried to patch BF2 to version 1.5 the installation chrashed, first saying: "Unable to get available disk space", and then: "You have to little space on your harddrive to patch BF2. You need at least 1600MB". Even tough i have over 300GB of empty space on my drive. I have tried downloading the patch from diffrent sites, but it chrashes every time. I also tried running it as admin and in compatabillity for xp. Have anybody had the same problem? I would really appreciate some help with this problem since I can't get PR .87 until I patch BF2, and I really miss playing PR.

Do you have your page file on?
Press and hold the Windows key, and then press the Pause key -> top left, Advanced system settings -> top Settings -> Advanced tab -> Change.
Are you running Windows 7 64 bit? Did you happen to import the registry settings, or do you have BF2 installed to a different drive letter? Is C: drive the drive that BF2 is installed to? If it is not, open
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic Arts\EA Games\Battlefield 2
and set the path to "C:\<installation>", then try starting the patch.

I do have page file on. Right now 20 GB of virtual memory is allocated. I do have Win 7 64 bit, and BF is installed in this folder: C:\programs (x86)\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2.

20 GB? Why that much? If you haven't, set it to allow the system to manage the page file, reboot, and start the patch again.

Installer extracts all files from the setup file into your temp directory, which is usually on the same drive you installed Windows, a.k.a. your system drive. If there is not enough space left, you will get disk space related errors when installing large programs.
Your temp directory is located at:
It's location is controlled by environment variables TEMP and TMP. You can change temp directory location by editing these two variables via '
Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change my environment variables'
