Looking to buy a new Hdd, and was wondering if any of you have had any experience with the WD 1TB Hdd's. I'm thinking about purchasing this one:
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Black WD1001FALS 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Anyways, was curious if any of you have owned/used this particular drive, and if its worth buying. If not, I'm looking for something that's 85-110$, and of course, 1tb

BARE drive, meaning I'm quite sure you would have to install an OS on it.... In that case this HDD would be best if you were starting out with making your own computer.... not just replacing your current one.

Yes I'm aware of that and I was planning on installing an OS on it. Was more or less planning on using this one for OS/storage, and then my other one just for storage.

If thats the case, this would be good for storage.... high volume for a decent price.
But I would definately purchase this if I was building a new rig.

I have the exact same drive.
Got it for Xmas.
It's ok i guess
but i'm not sure if this is what is causing me problems with 2 of my games ( PR and L4D2 )
and it's not pleasing me one bit
The drive works and so far is good
But it makes some odd noise at some times but i can explain it
it's because there is two motors, some one else explained it to me but i don't remember the word he used, something like 2 shafts anyways it acts liek that.
The drive is worth it if you need the space
BTW it's not 1 tb it's 935 gb if you didn't know that

I would hate to have 1 TB drive as primary or even worse as the only drive in the system.
You should have a partitioned drive for the OS and Games (smaller size hard disk will seek much quicker 150-300GB).
Secondary hard disk: media and page file (now throw in your 1TB here where response time isn't such an issue).
Your system will be much faster this way.
If your on a budget though or not after good performance then any hard disk will do I guess.
