Smoking planes unable to shoot

When a jet gets hit by a missile, or damaged by bullets it will begin to smoke if not exploade.. It is possible to land it when it smokes & its possible to still deliver bombs, SRMs & MRMs. That isnt exactly realisitic since your aircraft is damaged, so would it possible to code the weapons system to be out of action when the plane is smoking?

Damage to an aircraft can come in a huge variety of effects against the aircraft. This can be something as simple as sluggish controls or damaged flight controls, to failure of avionics or engine.
For the most part, a real aircraft will often has some ability to continue using their weapon systems even after suffering critical damage. The only reason an aircraft would usually not be capable of weapons function is if their mechanical or electrical employment systems have failed, the hard-points are damaged, or the ordnance itself is damaged.
But your suggestion does point towards something I had been thinking about for a while. When a real aircraft is damaged critically, to the point that they are still capable of controlled flight but are relatively combat-ineffective, the pilot will jettison the external stores for safety upon landing and also to improve flight performance. The only stores not jettisoned are gun rounds and usually the wing-tip AAM's.
Personally, I understand where your suggestion is coming from and do think it would be beneficial if all weapon systems were "shut down" when an aircraft's damage has reached a certain point. This would force pilots to land and repair ASAP, instead of trying to Kamikaze with their last few bits of ordnance before they go boom.

interesting idea, it would certainly encourage damaged planes to RTB, but I'm not sure if it would impact gameplay except to make CAS even harder to do. Worth discussing.

if it can be put with random element(like tracking/blocked turret on land vehicles) then i say go for it

I think planes should be a bit tougher.. they feel like paper. Same with littlebirds, but thats besides the point.
Anyway, I like the idea. That or your ammo is instantly depleted, like what Ninja2dan said.

Perhaps pilots could be given a reason to jettison their ordnance in order to improve their, and teammates, safety.
My idea is that all unused ordnance on the jet would explode once the jet dies or reaches a super critical (<10%) state. This way, if they're almost dead, they'd want to get rid of the ordnance instead of letting their jet drift to the ground and potentially taking out a random squad or APC when it hits the ground. It would also give them a reason to do so before landing, as a bunch of dead teammates is not something a jet pilot wants when they blow up on landing.

I've not seen anyone go kamikaze, ever. It's also an incredibly rare occurrence that the plane smokes but isn't going to explode in the next 15 seconds. Any air to air missile will either set the plane on fire or blow it up immediately, and MANPADS/Ground based AA are equally likely to miss or set the plane on fire.
That said, I don't see anything wrong with it, even if I never get to experience it.
