Hi all,

I had previously uninstalled my BF2 and Project Reality and now wanted to give it a go again. So, I proceeded to install BF2, then installed 1.5 patch and lastly PR 0.87 core. When I try to run it, it complains about missing the file xpack/shaders/datatypes.fx. The problem is, when you install from DVD and add the 1.5 patch straight, you have no folder called xpack. Well, I browsed around the forums and even tried to manually create the folders needed and extacted files from mods/bf/shaders_client.zip and then I got some other error so no dice there.

The main problem is that not a single thread this far has got any replies what to do with a BF2 version without the xpack folder. All those threads just suddenly drop dead. I'm thinking that the BF2's 1.41 patch may be mandatory if you want to have that folder and PR to work. Is this the case? Would PR start working if I uninstalled everything completely, and updated from BF2 1.41 patch upwards?

Anyways, could someone please reply to this? I haven't played PR since 0.7X versions so I'd love to give it ago again.

Yeah, I believe you need to patch to 1.41 first. The 1.50 is not a full patch.

So install BF2 -> Update to 1.41 full -> update to 1.50 -> Install .87 Core -> install .87 levels -> Play PR

Hmm, 1.50 patch let me play BF2 vanilla though so it seems to be a full patch. Anyways, I'll try uninstalling and using 1.41 patch now. I'll report back.

PERFECT I had the same problem and was just install 1.41 patch then update to 1.5 and it works! thank you guys
