[Inspiration] Pictures from Congo

I have the impression that Congo is maybe the worst country in the world to live in. Lots of war and guns and different milita groups and people getting raped and parents getting killed and children recruited and turned in to monsters.

But it is still a beautiful country and lots of love and families and people caring about each other. And the nature is very special. I just read Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness and I have gotten more interested in this country.

I just found out about this community faction African Resistance Fighters. I don't know much about it. What countries they are going to cover, etc. But what about a map that takes place in Congo? I can imagine an awesome battleground there. Just look at these pictures from The Big Picture at Boston.com. The Big Picture - Boston.com

The nature and environment is really unique there.

You talking of those rubber boots? How do you recognize them to such extend? They look just like any generic rubber boots to me. Actually they look bit too modern to be east-Germany origin.

Thought I'd post pictures I've found on the net of the African armies/Militia groups, primarily the Congo which has seen some serious fighting in past years and is still having issues with local insurgencies. Hope this helps.

Something to note in the image below are the Soviet/Eastern bloc military surplus ammunition boxes. They are relatively plentiful and exported by countries such as Bulgaria and Romania. Inside are paper-wrapped parcels of the rounds. One of the parcels fits into the little pouches on the right and left hand side of the Type-56 Chest Rig which is plentiful and popular with international armies/Militia/Insurgent groups alike. It could be a possible replacement for the ammo crate dropped by light vehicles, and would be relatively easy to model :)

My personal favorite, would be great to have the officer with a belt of PKM ammunition around him

Mounted KPV 14.5mm machine gun, same that is on the BRDM/BTR vehicles. I believe it also rarely mounted on T-55/T-62's, albeit with a lower fire rate.

Got high hopes for this faction :)

good pics, I'd like to see the "typical militia-style" funky pants from pic 1 and the ribbon around the ak on pic 3 represented ingame for maximal realism ;)

Good but sad pictures. It's a beautiful country though.
