^_^ I love when you find a new PR player in game or even on the forums lol its great seeing that more and more people are switching over to this mod and getting way from the Damn Arena gameplay of VBF2. Finding people who appreciate the work which has gone into the mod makes is always awsome to hear about

...Soo i was curious to see how the rest of the community of PR deals with new PR members..
give a short explaination on how you help out, react to new players..

if you have a story about brining over a friend through a connection that would be good too

What is your favorate thing about new members and how do you try to help them get situated?

I try to help them as much as i can and keep them off the choppers

I like helping them out and teaching them how to be a teamplayer... It's always good when you teach someone new how to work together.

Why no one admit telling them how to get secret kits by pressing alt-f4, because after all that's all I see on the server chat no matter what a newcomer just asked.

I treat them with suspicion

If they seem interested in learning I do everything I can to get them knowledgeable.

If they have a poor attitude and are rude then I note the game is a team game and ignore them until they improve their attitude.

I always tell them about deviation and that having the marksman or sniper kit won't make them more accurate if they don't know how to use it.

New players should really stick to the spawnable classes.

I've met a few newbies to PR when i was on a training server once, they were asking around about what the shovel did. So i gave them sort of a training session on the basics of PR gameplay, starting off with building an FOB to show what the shovel really did ("can you hit people with it?"). Afterwards i did advise them to read through the manual, since for the rest i pretty much followed what i could remember from it off the top of my head.
They we're very enthousiastic though and willing to learn, so i had to forgive them for not reading it.
Can't remember their names sadly...

I give em a chance, but if the first thing they do is request the sniper kit, I teach them about the squad kick.

"why did you request the sniper kit?"

"because the the enemy are far away"

"wrong answer"

but I'm also of the opinion as an admin that kicking people from your server for doing super stupid things teaches them pretty fast not to do them. (flipping choppers, running off with the HAT kit etc)

but if they are willing to learn, I am willing to play with them 100%, and answer any questions they may ask.

Im still in the learning process, have tried to stick to a single kit until I master it or at least get a good handle of it.

The one thats giving troubles is the commander seat, havent been able to find the use of all those buttons in the lower part of the panel. If anyone knows a decent tutorial about the basics please point me out

Luckily Ive ran in to kind squads that will teach if I dont know how to use something.

I generally introduce them to the game. Say welcome etc. Try to teach them a few quick things then politely tell them that they need to read the manual or they will be lost. Nothing more annoying than guys thinking they can't be shot as a collaborator if they put their hands up.

But generally well. I find the PR community is a personable bunch (for the most part) and are much nicer and less egotistical than the 1337 noobs of other games.

we have all been there......certain is still staying there When i played on training servers,i taught new guys to fly huey upside down........

If I'm the SL and a new player joins in, I assign him the HAT kit.

if they listen i help them, if they dont, i boot them.

I try and do that too, although lately its been other people helping me!

We was all a noob once

If I'm on a training server & I notice new people I will make a sqaud to help them out & tell them everything they want & need to know.

They are all pieces of clay that we can mold in the way we want. I enjoy having new-to-PR players in my squads (if they can get in) because I see it as an opportunity to get them going on the right path. Think of all of the bad experiences we've all had on other servers, and then look at the opportunity we have to teach this new player the right way to do things. Besides, PR needs to grow it's player base, and so we should make every effort to make new players feel welcomed and see just how great this game and the PR community can be.

New to the Forums? Treat them with suspicion until they reach 26posts without attempting to by-pass the 25post Suggestions Forum rule or say 'fast ropes.'

In-Game? Be kind and informative until they request a Sniper Kit or go Lone-Wolfing.
