Just worn the helmet

Dear gentlemen of Project Reality,

I am Prospekt20 and my real name is Alex!

First of all I would suggest whoever made this site to please get paid for it! He would become rich in a single day!

Secondly I would like to compliment the makers of the mod, which is probably the only reason why in 2010 Battlefield 2 remains the most purchased game from Electronic Arts :D

As you might have guessed I am new, and I would love to get to know the amazing writers of this amazing adventure and learn more about the mod, how to play it the proper way and feel how I felt the day I saw Project Reality for the first time on Youtube! :D

Sincerely yours,
Pvt. Alex

Yeah, you got it dead-on. Project Reality was such a completely different experience than the rather trashy BF2... Looking at a youtube video showcasing PR in action, I was completely blown away. "Assault rifle scopes!? realistic wound system!? Actual squad-based combat!? Madness! this is Madness!"

A couple of Protips:

A) Manual: Read it
B) look at this mother-of-all tactical treads for advice PR In-Game Tactics and Strategies - Project Reality Forums
C) Always join a squad, but never create/join before 1:30 in briefing time. It's PR religion
D) Play as a squad member (rifleman scoped) in a infantry map for the first 3+ rounds
E) Use Voip, always use voip.
F)Don't suggest anything new in the suggestions thread until you've checked to see if it's always been suggested
G) Don't be a smacktard: you'll get kicked/banned on some servers

Oh, and welcome!

Edit: find tactics guides on Youtube for even more win

This is nonsensical information. Stop spreading it around. If the server has a rule for it, so be it, but stop spreading this around like you will break the universe if you create a squad before the 1:30 mark. It doesn't cause squadbug.

Oh, welcome to the community Prospekt.

Edit: Yeah Gazz, true. I just had to use the sticker. But honestly, why does Taticalgamer say not to make them before 1:30? Maybe its just a precaution...

squad bug happens when some one makes a squad before the server/timer starts. not before 1:30. where is the citation that squad bug happens if a squad is made before 1:30 ?

the 1:30 thing was a major confusion caused by people not understanding why the squad bug happens, whilst playing on servers with teh no squads before 1:30 rule

the 1:30 rule generally exists to help ensure that people with computers that load slower still get a chance to make an Asset squad on servers that have squad asset rules.

Though I confess I don't fully understand why the squad bug happens.

Welcome to the forums mate, hang around for the latest info on .9 and for various other things, like community events, or just to have some fun with the various discussions and threads.

Pro tip; don't go around assuming everyone that plays PR is a hardcore milsim type.

Though we use tactics and such many of us are not into being all proper military while in game. I've been called Sir, when I'm a squad leader and it actually pisses me off.

Welcome to the forums and the Mod please enjoy your stay.

TG doesn't have that rule.

Regardless, I'd give you a citation if there was one, but there hasn't been any matter-of-fact say about it either way. The squad bug is created when someone creates a squad before the server timer starts (while the server is 'loading' everything) which causes a good ol' hiccup in the system.

Read the manual. The best advice I can give you ;)

So that people with uber fast computers don't have an advantage of getting asset squads before those with slower computers who may and probably will be equally or better with the asset in terms of team work and/or skill.

Reading the Manual helps a little bit.

Get PRSP and have a go on that for a bit, it won't get you used to Project Reality gameplay, but it well make it easier for you to find out how everything works, e.g deviation, LMGs etc.

Then get on a good server, I suggest tactical gamer, UKWF, or HardCore insurgency, and join a squad lead by a server admin, and tell the SL you are new.

.
as stated TG doesn't have that rule, because named asset squads do not get preferential access to assets unless a commander says they do.

Pretty much, read the manual and advice from others.

AND LISTEN TO YOUR SQUADLEADER!!!

Other than that, welcome to Project Reality. It's a great experience compared to so many other war games, even the newest ones out (hence, my signature of PR kicking ArmA 2 in the face).
