This was from when I did the first round after the 0.87 release, so it may have been fixed already.

Barracuda, US, middle of the island and I had a LAT kit.

Squad spots chinese FAV coming down the road, I shoot my AT4 head-on on it's driver seat and something weird and awesome happens.

I managed to hit it in such a way all three occupants were dead, but the vehicle was unscathed.

I just stood there wondering how someting like that was even possible, to not destroy but decrew a speeding FAV.

Is it intended when you smash a projectile in the drivers face the occupants are vaporized, leaving a perfectly fine FAV behind? Or was it pure luck?

The rocket probably hit one of the guys instead of the FAV and the splash damage only killed the d00ds inside and caused no damage to vehicle. Bit same that if you shoot a HAT round to ground next to APC or other vehicle it won't damage it so much but if footmobiles are standing near it the splash damage will kill them.
