Takes 2 to tango lads

Had a few frustrated people on TG today after a round of Al Kufrah
the infantry were complaining that they never got transport
now, there is one catch to this complaining...no-one actually asked for APC transport.
Remember lads, your comrades cannot read minds.
If you want to work together with another squad, chances are that they want to work with you.
But it does take someone to actually ask....
Never be afraid to offer a coordinated plan to another player, something as simple as "my squad will provide fire on dylym village from the west hill while you take the fort?" or "my squad will tag with you're apc if thats ok? if you get a contact have us dismount and we'll provide a skirmish screen" or whatever
A little bit of effort goes along way, the rewards being more fun, a friendly team and more teamwork.
And mumble helps as well ofc;

So many times now I've absorbed blues in to my squad or became a temporary fireteam member of another squad asking for cover, healing, smoke, suppressive fire etc, and that kind of on-the-spot teamwork between squads isn't really possibly in the world of joe Public without mumble.
Anyway, keep this in mind lads, some APCs are dicks, but you gotta ask to find out

As an infantry soldier, I expect APC drivers and Helicopter pilots to read my mind. If you can't do this, you have no business operating that particular vehicle.

I've had it the other way around where 3 squads of infantry are desperately calling for transport for the two APCs roaming around, to no avail. That was probably the must frustrating round of PR I've ever played.
Then, we finally got one APC to pick us up, and then he proceeded to roam around again despite our desperate calls for "STOP STOP STOP!".
Just remembering it makes me want to puke.

Agreed. Teamwork requires communication, it is not magic. For those interested in magic, I imagine there are some harry potter games you can play.

I said it before and I say it again, become a regular on a server so you play with people who give a damn. You cant get a decent football game by assembling random forwards midfielders, or quarterbacks and whatever American football has, either.

And for gods sake. Please, look for the AT kits. If you call for an APC to come help you and do the heavy lifting try and do it a favor and scan whatevers around you for 1337 HAT's.

Took the words right off my keyboard. APCs job is transport and support, so you're expected to do it without being asked. But instead of expecting THEM to get in, ask if they need a ride first.

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTTT. Sorry, that was the sound of my drink coming out of my nose in disbelief that someone would actually say that.
Hold on, let me just spam teamchat asking everyone if they need a ride.
Oh, no one wants a ride... Oh, well then, I'll get closer and give them a crate I'm sure they need it.
OH HEY SQUAD X HERE'S A CRATE
[Squad X dies horrendous deaths]
Oh, I gave you guys a crate you should have bee-
You know what, pilot, I @#$%ING HATE YOU! STOP FLYING NEAR US, STOP ASKING US IF WE NEED PICKUP.
You have "Need transport" buttons for a reason. If a stryker is giving fire support to a squad in the city, you should ASK FOR TRANSPORT. He'll be busy shooting up the MEC to get another squad advancing, and he really doesn't think it's necessary to STOP TO TYPE AND ASK YOU.
Come on now, think that one out. If you want something done, never assume always ask.
(I better have just been trolled, for real.)

if you don't ask how are teh APCs supposed to safely complete this task?

I think the point here is communication plays a much larger role than players give credit for. i.e, the more you communicate, the better off everyone will be

I personally see APC's as fighting vehicles unless requested otherwise. Yes the name is armoured personnel carrier but if they arent requested to take anyone anywhere they are awesome killing machines.

just remember that on many maps, an APC is a killing machine, an APC with a supporting infantry squad that has a HAT...is just plain unstoppable.
enemy armour, TOW-HAT combo (especially important for USA since the BMP tends to survive long enough to retaliate after a TOW hit)
enemy infantry, infantry engage and APC uses HEAT if avaliable and no enemy HAT near
Also this means that the APC cannot be sneaked up on since it has 6 more pairs of eyes, and the APC can resupply the infantry squad.

APC's work like every other 'hunter' asset, I ferry/ammo/support squads if they call for it, but if nobody is asking im only out there to hunt other APC's/inf. Same as attack choppers, if nobody is calling in targets you go after the other choppers.
I dont really see the point of this thread, If people want APC support ask for it in chat/commo rose/be on mumble.

point is there are tonns of "APC are not doing their job, never" whiners, while from APC point of view there are very few squads who at least call for it and actually use it
and even less, who understand that you need to secure extraction point and hop out a bit away from middle of battle

Absolutely I'm with you on this one mate, if the APC is requested to support infantry or take infantry any where this should not be ignored.

Im mixed views about it, in the end it all depends what map your on and what type of APC you are driving. For example a stryker, if you are crewing a stryker you need to stick to the inf, you need them for AT (i.e Qwai river vs Cannon apc) support and they need you to take out pesky infantry. I've seen many a round where a stryker has charged full blown over the land bridge in qwai to solo attack inf and apcs only to die within less than a minute.
But on a map like Al Kufrah the APC has to worry about many more things now, enemy apcs with ATGM and ofcourse hand held rockets. You can't expect a BMP on kufrah to be 100% devoted to protecting inf when the crew has to worry about bradleys that could charge over a dune and annihilate them. Obviously the BMP needs to transport but i hate when i get moaned at by inf for "not supporting" when theres a bradley over watching the dune they want me to charge right over.
