Need major help in deciding for a new gaming PC for whilst i'm at uni (up in newcastle if someone knows a specific shop).

basically what i want from it is to play PR well med/high and to possibly be able to handle some of the newer games coming out well enough.

i'm not very specific i know, but i'm a right noob at this thing and would probably end up wasting money on pointless trash

my budget is somewhere ideally between 700 to 800 GBP

thanks in advance
Animal

if u r on a budget, go AMD and ATI.

With a budget like that, you could get a nice quad core, ram and graphics card that could max out PR really easily. BUT it all depends if you just want a tower, or would you want to have a whole package? (monitor, cool tower, mouse and keyboard)

well i'm going to need a monitor, M&K, but that's easy enough for me to get myself

basically looking for advice on a tower. i haven't bought a new PC in years (i just strapped new stuff into my old PC at home home) so i don't know whats good and what isn't.

Well, i just set up my rig like 500gbp in Turkey, i dunno about the UK prices. And my specs are :

amd x4 630 processor (2.8mhz)
4gb overclock kit ram [2 x 2 forgot the other specs]
Asus M4A78-AM 780g DDR2 1066
Geforce 9800GT graphics card
320GB hard disk

those are some basic specs and i have a very good perfomance with this rig at the moment. I use windows 7 32 bit as operating system.

Had some ctd issues with pr but BF2 cleaner solved them all. I agree with amd choice but i'd go for nvidia on graphics card.

I'd go Intel and Nvidia. I have had loads of trouble with AMD processors and ATI cards. Intel is generally better quality and I'd get a Nvidia card because ATI's drivers are utterly useless (so is their support site). My current card is an ATI Radeon HD 5700. I get really bad artifacting and tearing on games my last Nvidia card had no problem playing (like the Witcher). It's improved somewhat with the last driver but it's still happening on some games.
