Give to Gain!
Hey guys,
I propose that we make a real effort in creating as many "TRAINEE" squads as we can and accept people who are new to the game. This weekend will be a huge entrypoint in time for lots of new or old people doing the comeback. We have a opportunity to grab a huge chunk of players and make sure they come to love the game.
Calling all experienced squadleaders - help our newcomers into the game this weekend!!
Beef up on patience and encouragement vitamins, let's win even more players to this lovely mod and pay the developers hard work with doing our bit in bringing even more players to enjoy it!
Seeyah out there,
*=LP=*[twl] Lan
PS: I will be online on Skyttegrav.se servers leading "TRAINEE" squads most of the weekend. Not all of it though, I'll do some CO
and maaaaybe some clan warfare.

Clever man Joker, however, I intend to do some allchat first and invite the new people. But I will change to "Training" just for you.

Would be nice if there we more people in SP carrying out training. It is a fairly good semi-live scenario. Good practice to work as a team too.

I am virtually always SL, but with all the new 09 SL stuff to do, I don't think I'll have enough mental capacity to look after others too....

Well iam a newb too PR but played it a year ago and was very interested in learning then but didnt have the time. But got good lot of time now and would realy like to learn the ropes and be part of of a training squad and think its a great idea to have specific squads set up.

That is something I always do, on occasion I will lead a training squad. Depends on my energy levels though.
There is some truth in, "Once you have gotten good, you cannot really improve more if you don't start teaching the subject as it will give you new insights..." I did a lot of Bootcamp work with other teachers in the PRT. Not that I am implying I am good or anything.
So yes, we should always help spread the Word of PR as the good Disciples we are (joking a bit but you see the point.

I think I've tried the training. I think it was suppose to be a server run think where players can practice maneuvers.
Maybe the community should run a training session or program from time to time. Both to teach newcomers and train their members.

That's what we are going to do. However, we will all be learning the new technicalities of this version but we certainly know how to do teamwork by now. Mean (not really), lean (who?) and well trained (heck yes) on previous PR versions

The Training mode was removed due to it not fullfilling the goals the Devs had setup for it, or so I recall reading in the 50 page threads on the changelog.
As for training sessions or training programs, it has been tried but didn't workout for various reasons. Time, devotion of the trainers, organisation - it just didn't work for long. Doing ingame squad training is one thing, setting up and prepping for a real training session on a specific topic/kit is another thing.
Knowing something and teaching the same is two different things, there is a reason teachers go through all that training in how to speak and listen, how to argue - how to teach. That's one possible reason the online trainings have failed.
Anyhow, I'm not passing judgement on the previous efforts as I wasn't there. I am merely providing some plausible guesses.
Back to topic. TRAINEE will be about practical ingame small squad learn-by-doing, that's easy.
