With the 0.9 release date announce, I made a translation for my friends and any other player in my country. The problem started when many players came to me and asked "what is that thing called mumble ?"

So I started a new campain to explain to the players what is mumble exactly, how it works and some tips such as key's configuration. I think this is the great chance to make more players to use mumble and increase the PR matches.

So, I think that the PR team could, along the release annunce make a good explanatory topic what is the mumble and how it works (plus some tips, why not ?). A offical PR word is the push that this awesome software needs.

I second this... Way too many people have only heard a little bit about mumble. I think two things would really help mumbles cause in an announcement:

1. A simple explanation to what mumble is and what you can do with it.

2. A guide for how to set it up.

These things are in the mumble sticky but I think they could be a lot more up front then how it is presented atm...


A mumble guide in PDF Form would be perfect...

Agree mumble is a great tool to improve overall teamplay and communication

I was assuming that the installer would explain what mumble is when it offers the option to install it... hopefully the devs did not just assume people would be familiar with it

Is mumble included in v.9 of PR? Do I have to download another file? Do I have to configure it? Its very vague and new to me. I want to use mumble, but I dont know what to make of it in the new release. Can anyone give some insight?

Thanks for the reference Bulletfizz. I was actually looking more for how mumble relates with the v.9. The features of v.9 says that mumble is included (or something with mumble is included).

all we know is that its "included" so will probably just have a option to install it, people will think "hmm whats this?" rather than having to visit the forums to know about it like now.

And that should be avoided. People must install mumble knowing what it is, or they may have the wrong impression what this program is about and mess with the other users.

Just so everyone knows, when you get the message, install Mumble, it will change your experience to about 10000000% better

It is obvious when reading through the forums that there are ALOT of people that do not bother reading the information in front of them, or the manual. If these people stopped to read the information that is available to them there wouldn't be stupid posts like What is mumble, do I have to do anything with it?....

Adding a section totally committed to the explanation and use of mumble in the manual would be nice.

All that would be left then is for people to read it.

Does people who has Mumble installed already need to uninstall it before applying 0.9 or will it automatically uninstall it?

It's the same version, you don't have to install it if you already have it.

Alright, just thought it might've been a newer version.

hmm... maybe I've got the wrong information here, but wasen't there some serious plans to integrate mumble entirely with PR? just wondering if that idea is dead-in-the-water, or what?

There was a recent post that mentioned that the devs were waiting on the next build of the Mumble software, to build the PR version on, since it had either fixes or new features that the devs required to continue.
