v0.9 - Bridges?

Hey guys,

In v0.87, neither Engineer wrenches, nor Supply Truck repair crates are capable of repairing bridges.

The maps this has the most pronounced effects on are Al Basra, which can seriously slow down gameplay, and Kozelsk which can actually kill servers...

I saw no mention of repair changes in the changelog other than making the Fools Road bridge indestructable...

So, how are bridges repaired in v0.9? :-o

I think they weren't meant to be repaired which would allow the team to decide whether it is an asset they can afford to destroy. Also I never seen a bridge with an expanse of 20+ metres to be repaired in under an hour, unless we're talking about wooden bridges.

There's a deployable bridge in the works.

I know so because when I suggested it (along with a method!) I got a ;) from Rhino :(

I know one of the DEVs was on a project to build a bridge-layer. Don't know if it's in this patch, though.

(EDIT: Ninja'd)

afaik bridges are pretty much the same as .87, we will deal with them more in a later release ;)

Al Basrah is perfectly playable with its two landbridges and one undestroyable bridge.

Fools Road's bridge was made undestroyable in .9 for sake of game play.

Dunno about Kozelsk.

By horribly abusing the deployables, it is possible to temporarily fix many bridges.
