When I am playing pr online through a wired connection whenever my sister is on another wired computer using facebook i get frequent lag spikes.

how can i stop these spikes from ocurring?

I own a linksys wrt54g router and i have cable internet connection.

Get a better internet connection/better bandwith? speed. When someone is dl-ing something on the same connection as i'm on i get the same thing.
Maybe try to cut of her connection in the router or something?
