Wouldn't the audio setting have an effect on FPS performance. Thought maybe this setting should be added to the template.

Very possible, someone said that lowering their sound to hardware from Creative and setting it to High from Very High helped... Ill actually try that out later myself...

Lowering your audio settings should help a bit. Did some experimenting with my old Xps3. Lowering them from high to med seemed to give me @ 5% increase of fps. Hope this helps for some. But my 730x plays Pr well with sound settings on high. Love the i7 and 4870x2.

i turned off eax and all the bells and whistles on my creative x-fi when i heard a dedicated soundcard LOWERED the performance in games.

i thought it was supposed to relieve the mobo. so stupid. so i'm running "software" on medium.

I think it's just X-fi & Very high that is a bit bugged.
Turning to software should lower fps if anything unless something is seriously backwards(quite possible, it is the BF2 engine after all).

Hardware and LOW should theoretically be the best for performance.

Relieve the mobo? You're thinking about the CPU. :P
