I see it again and again, some people seem to prefer to walk for 10 min from main instead of setting up a FOB, why is that ?

Some people don't even think of doing it/don't know how, maybe once some stop whining about rallies and adapt to the changes they'll start to be more utilized.

it's more that people don't like defending, imo.

Is funny once somebody else built a fob everybody spawns there.

i didnt see any shortage of firebases while i played, though placement could have been better. the only time me and my squad refused to build one was when the Russians were heavy incoming and all of us were busy holding them off.

Run build a firbase, run, build a firebase, run, build a firebase. Maybe they got sick of how tedious this all becomes.

yea, like you or even half the players have ever built more than one fire base in a round

Defending them is a different matter, most people don't defend their FOBs anyway.

Shouldn't have to build many yourself, someone on the team just has to build one in the general area of the objective. As for running you can request transport if it's far away.

This is what logistics squads are for, building and transporting

I remember doing this on Muttrah once, just driving in the logistics truck, dropping and building, dropping and building.

You gotta build it in a good location too. If it screams FIREBASE or is in the open, every goat with an IED will be gunning for it.

I usually try to have two FBs in a general area at any one time, so that if one goes down the other one can still provide reinforcements.

It also gives you two options on the direction of attack.

However, this usually only involves your squad building 1 FB, as usually someone else will try to set one up as well.

And why everybody love to build wires around firebase? Who do you expect to come? Zombies? Do not place wires if you don't need them.

This is why I love TG. There is always ppl building firebases in logical spots.

I play on TG mostly and especially on insurgency maps the server isnt immune to a recession in the construction sector.

Supply squads shouldnt have to build as much. It was fine when rallies were around but now you have to build so much, squadleaders should first set up and then move onto the objective.

Remember you might not be as skilled as you think.

+1 especially against insurgents being able to hit from multiple sides is essential.

Well, insurgency isn't very fun anyway, so I rarely care on those kinda maps.

Know what is annoying? My squad building a FOB and another one, instead of helping, just attacked. After the clear the objective, we move up, and build another FOB (because they aren't, and there is no other volunteers nearby). While we build, they move, and attack, and we stay behind. Again.

You see, we need to tell our squad members the faster we build, the sooner we will do offensive maneuvers. And over mumble, tell the other squad member, "tell your guys to help us out so we can attack togheter and suffer less casualties!" (remember, when they attack, it's on your FOB they will be spawning). They will agree, if they play the game how it should be played. A little negotiation my be a part of this. But after you are done negotiating (the builders will probably win, due to the nature of the gameplay). Just build some defences, and use offensive tactics, like one squad supporting/suppressing while the other one flank... or both flank from different sides. Or even one of the squads attack from behind while the other one attracts them in one flank...

All-in-all this is why I think building needs to be fast, and inter-squad communications even better, which will be even easier because of Mumble. Otherwise what Reagan said will be true (it is already, we must make it so it isn't).

Remember, this is a game, it is suppose to be fun. Not a chore.

you are talking like it takes ages to setup a fob. it's actully easy:

a crate => fob => 4 guys shovelling takes 20s max

usually my squad is building 10 to 20 FOB's per game. one time we decided to take a break from building and no one built anything the whole game. it was hilarious.

but if everyone built then there would be a good change some idiot would built tank traps and MG's around each firebase he put up... i've seen it many times.

well with the new rally system, the people who dont like to build are going to get really tired of walking. They are either going to have to get used to it, or leave. FOBS are a hundred times more important now, and I know that if Im leading a squad and someone whines about building they are gonna get the ol boot.
