Hi, welcome to the forums.

PR is a modification for BF2 that is entirely separate to vanilla BF2. So yes you can play both whenever you want. Vanilla BF2 is essentially a modification itself for the BF2 engine, you will find both BF2 and PR installed under BF2 --> mods.

No PR runs ontop of BF2 so you can choose to play PR one day and then BF2 vanilla the next. But you will need to have BF2 1.5 installed to install PR. :)

One little detail: You might want to use a different account for PR. Ranks don't exist anyway in this mod, so you lose nothing. If you don't, PR will change some minor details about your settings in BF2 (crosshair color, auto-reload off, map transparency). You can change all these back, of course, so if that's not a problem, you can use the same account for both games.

There are some performance issues with the current version. Don't be scared off by them, the Dev's are working on it, and a fix might be released if they find the issue. Or maybe you don't even experience any problems, there are mixed reports.

Welcome to the forum and PR!

To answer your questions in the second post:
Almost all weapons in PR are new, and there are tons of them. However, you can't unlock any and most kits in one army have the same weapon, as it is a realism mod. For more details, read the manual, it's a must to read. Also, VoIP is encouraged, will make the game a lot better. The manual also contains an overview over the weapon classes, but does not contain all weapons.

No thermal scopes, but a lot of other toys - see the manual :)

There are very very very few vanilla BF2 weapons left in PR (all I can think of off the top of my head is the PKM although there are probably a couple more). So yes pretty much all weapons are custom for PR.

There are no thermal scopes as this is not a realistic option for frontline infantry forces and not possible in the BF2 engine.

The manual contains some weapon info but very brief and general. Maybe the wiki guide has more info.

Please have a look at the manual before entering a server. The gameplay is very different from BF2 and it takes time to get used to. However once learned I will guarantee that you will get one of the most awsome gaming experience ever!

OH sorry to ask you, as i am currious...

If i use my BF2 account with PR will it be risky? I mean is ther any chance to loose account?
Also, Is PR allowed to be done by EA games? as i know there is no help provided by EA games for BF2 though.
Please let me know. Thanks again.

PR is an entirely legal modification, no legal trouble. And no risk for your account, all that'll happen is a changed crosshair color, turned off auto-reload and a changed map transparency (still visible though, both map and crosshair).

mods account for 80% of the BF2 sales, enough said that EA/DICE dont have a problem with mods, i'd setup a 2nd account just in case but nothing should happen. i dont do it since i dont play regular BF2 anymore anyways.

PR is all new..
PR is 90% different than BF2, 150% better and also 150% different

I suggest that you read the manual at first as I have started playing like a year ago and I read the manual which helped me so much.

However, you might not like PR at first, but once you understand how things work, You will love it!

Welcome to the forum, may i suggest when u fire up PR try and join a training server, specialy if u like flying. Helicopters and planes handle differently in pr(all explained in the manual) the best way to learn how to fly is to crash a few times, but do it on a training server because in a real server crashing a chopper/plane is a loss of an important asset.

I can recommend joining UKWF or T&T servers both UK based and have good admins and regulars willing to help if ur willing to listen. ;)

welcome to PR.

Uhm. Smurf, there is no more training mode. We have co-op instead, which is not as good for crashing helicopters and jets though, as either the bots already crashed them or the respawn time is too long.

I'd suggest creating a local server and mess around there a bit as far as aircraft go. The co-op mode is good for learning how to use the weapons, though.

Once you start playing PR, normal BF2 servers are so crappy. Its like MW2 but 6 years older and more spamming.

You should make a new account because:
PR requires much mroe RAM and GPU work so you might want to lower your settings for PR and making a new account takes out that need to keep changing the settings when you wanna play BF2.
and it also puts the Auto reload off which you cant put On and you might want that in BF2 full of noobs.

Welcome to forums and PR. In you're very first hours of playing the mod try to find a good infantry squad using VOIP and tell them you are new to the game, I am sure they will help you out. Also do not attempt to operate any air vehicles on real servers. If you want to pratice those try the training servers or creat a local server to pratice you're self(this is a better choice due to public training servers being very crappy and full of grievers).

Hope you enjoy the mod.
