Training Mode v0.9

I was just wondering if it was possible for anybody to come up for a training version of some of the maps similar to the extra addon that was available for 0.75?
While this new version is awesome it is missing some dedicated training maps which we used in our clan to get people upto date with vehicles/choppers/planes etc....
The most used we had was Kashen Training as it contained all the air vehicles and most of the land vehicles plus a very nice bombing range to practice laser targeting, all with an instant respawn and no restrictions on kit selections.....
Are there any budding map makers out there that can do this since I asked the Dev's a while back and got the usual 'tuff titty' answer.

Looks like the end of training maps then......
This is gonna cause some **** on live servers, you can't exactly say don't learn to fly on a live server anymore.....
Why did you remove this version, it was awesome for getting people up to speed and allowing you to try things out without people shouting at you for being a ****
Please please please - bring back training mode.......

I'm with you, how are new players going to learn how to fly? Local game?

this was the answer I was given when I asked this question a month or so ago when I heard that training mode is to be removed... but what about just you on your own with no AI - a good way to try things out without getting shot at all the time....
Can a local server be configed to allow instant spawn, any kit selection and how easy is it to mod maps to place all vehicles on them for training use only?
For example, if I want to teach someone how to use an engineers kit, I don't need 8 players on the server just to select the kit.

The training mode was a fantastic tool for our PR Academy.

I'm not sure about modifying the spawn times and such, but I do know when I create a local game to mess about or to try out fob locations I can request the engineers kit and any other kit with only myself in the squad.

There maybe no training servers, but there are a lot of Co-op servers, try learning to fly on those perhaps? (I know they're a bit slower, but its a step up from bf2)

Coops great but lacks certain important things needed. A new training minimod same as the 0.7 one would be very good.

I've just about loaded every version of every map to see what spawns in at the start etc and from what I can see there is now only 2 maps which feature the main attack birds (cobra apache etc) and they don't spawn for 20 mins..... So when teaching someone to fly or gun these, if it crashes for whatever reason, you will have to wait another 20mins
Now that sucks.....
In reality you train and drill your troops so that it becomes 2nd nature and instinct and we use this method in our clan for certain specialist kits to get people good at what they do..... this has just screwed everything up for the whole community...... I guess the dev's just didn't think this one through with a point of view of new or keen to learn players....
Something will have to be done about this or it's going to be painful to get people skilled at certain roles.
Using the coop mode is going to be a pain for our clan as our servers don't have it installed, so a local server from someones PC will have to be used and this causes loads of issues with lag and stuff... Also, from what I have seen of this mode, the maps are laid out completely different and have different vehicles... e.g. On Muttrah, you can't fly over the mountains - not much good for trying to learn how to hover behind them ready for an attack run...

Babylon has a good point, here traning modes did come in very handy, Academy Training like we have in Rusty In Places, Now you have to wait 20 mins for us to train someone in a attack chopper and evan then if they crash it another 20 mins, Tbh its a load of croc, We had a load of people learning to fly on our server wasting assets..
I really think we should bring the traning mode inot the Game that we love.

These units are on Silent Eagle, Battle for Qinling, Muttrah City and Kashan Desert meaning that the number of maps featuring attack helicopters has increased from 0.87.
When learning to fly use a local server or CO-OP server, the training mode was removed as it was a haven for people who only wanted to play the mod to piss around doing stupid things with the multitude of assets around. This was correctly deemed to not be in-keeping with the spirit of the overall game and in my opinion the correct decision was taken. If you want to run a training session for new players for your clan/community then use a locked dedicated server or a local server with hamachi, you will achieve the same outcome without the problem of tards or griefers. If you are bothered about getting people trained on attack helos then start Muttrah, have a 20 minute practice warm up in the hueys and then switch to the cobra.
Also fyi when running training sessions in the PRT I have only ever seen a training map used once.

Cheers Jigsaw for your reply but I beg to differ with your answer.....
Silent Eagle - you have to para in - get to the base and then wait for the assets to spawn - no main attach chopper either..
Kashan - only on 32 man version and spawns after 20 mins
QuinLing - no attack choppers on any version
Muttrah - spawns after 20 mins..
We used the training mode on our private locked server almost everyday, never went on a public one because of the reasons you mentioned and I'm sure there are other clans that did exactly the same. So i think the reason you gave for removing the mode is utter **** as it was a well used and versatile tool for the community to learn the game that we all love...

Check the Russian side too and on CnC both sides have them

Again, check out CnC, and the Chinese on AAS Alt.

In my view the only way in which it would be viable to reintroduce training mode would be if it was only allowed on locked passworded servers for clans. I do agree that it can be a useful option for clan training, but the problem lies in the ability for open public servers to be filled up with undesirables. This option however would be difficult to police.
Further to this you can actually alter the spawn times and numbers of vehicles etc yourself using the server files, the events team do it often for the community events you just have to make sure that the server you use is passworded

i run the federation 24/7 kashan coop and chinook training servers. I have trained with squad mates in those servers, and on kashan it didnt take 20 mins for the apaches to respawn IMHO.
Just find a empty server and go do your training thing.

While I can see the point of view here I have to make a few points.
1) Does that not generally keep them off otherwise decent standard servers?
2) If I sat here in a clown suit teamkilling all the SP bots would you ban me from all PR servers because I wasn´t playing in the desirable way, when it doesn´t even affect you?
I thought training could be very useful, in my case especially for modding since I know little about mapping, we can mod the files yes, its not hard, but it shouldn´t be necessary.
Training offered something that could be abused and used properly, and if you wanted you use it properly you just didn´t join the server with 40+ people on it...
Gameplay was **** on there but so what? Better there than normal servers and still have the option for a default training mode.

agree with op.
training maps like on Kashan were vital for players to learn how to fly and use vehicles because they are very different from bf2.

1. In my opinion it keeps them off PR in general, as normal server typicallys do not tolerate that for long and with no training servers they have nowhere to go, meaning they leave the mod and we're better for it.
2. How you dress when you play is your business

Seriously though no I would not ban you unless I happen to be an admin on the co-op server where you are making said action

Why should the PR team offer something that can be abused so easily?
Alex6714 wrote:Gameplay was **** on there but so what? Better there than normal servers and still have the option for a default training mode.
The reason it was removed was due to the poor standard of gameplay. Again why should the PR team offer a part of their product that does not live up to the quality and standard of the rest of the mod?
