is a pentium 4 cpu any good PR runs very laggy or low frame rates so would it be my cpu or my graphics card i have a 7600 gs nadiva.

i was thinking rather than buying a new comp would it be easyer to buy a new mother board and cpu and updating my grapics card what do u think

RAM is the cheapest upgrade honestly, you could use another gig or two.

Have you put a Grahics card in or is it built onto the motherboard?


How many watts is your power supply?

To check, open your case and read the write the numbers down.
Your power supply is usually at the top of the case near the back and has a large fan on it.

i put it in its a nadiva g-force 7600 gs

i was thinking about over clocking it but i found out u cant overclock dell's

You can overclock any GPU, it just shortens the life of the piece of hardware and requires more cooling.

I wouldn't suggest doing that, you should just buy a new GPU all together.

By looking at that I can see you can get up to another 2gb of ram.

You can get a PCIx16 card, which is what most cards use.... that is good thing.

You have a 305watt PSU.

just my opinion, but id just go for a whole new computer. and id also say that hte pentium 4 is really holding you back. people really underestimate how much CPU matters and this is from my own experience.

computer 1: had a pentium 4 3.0 GHz + 6800GT (overclocked a bit) and 4gb ram
computer 2: had a Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and 8600m GT (laptop) and 4gb ram

computer 1 would lag and stutter, and get extremely low fps in maps such as fools road with lots of trees.
computer 2 would run alot smoother on those maps.

6800GT is a bit more powerful than the 8600m GT graphics-wise, so the only times when computer 1 beat computer 2 was when there was alot of smoke and particles (ie looking at a JDAM or something)

soo it's really best to upgrade everything right now. like someone said in another thread, a pentium 4 won't cut it anymore.

oh and like people said above, a bit more ram couldnt hurt...

Build your own PC, $700 will build you a computer that will be very decent.

You really have to look at clock speeds and texture fill rate...ect


But currently NVIDIA is in the low numbers as they restarted the number line.
