I love the new patch to death, but it seems as since it got released, it's harder to find good teambased squads.
In 0.8. There was always atleast one squad named "Inf voip" or "Tact inf" etc. They are the only squads I join.
But lately they have been really hard to find. I find the most squads are locked 2, 3 man squads "German only" or "russian, french" etc. or locked Clan squads.
Where are all the great international squadleaders? Is it because there are so many new players, that they just get mixed in the ocean? Or is it because people don't feel comfortable leading a squad on a map they don't know their way around?
Or have I just been having really bad luck?

Every release bring out the unwashed masses, after the wow factor is gone you will see normal PR play.

Im usually one of the Inf Voip leaders, but like RedFox said we are at the time of the "wow factor" it leads to a lot of noob SQL and SQM. The only thing u can do about is it to play with people u know in person.

In B4 the "OMGZ the new rally pointz haz made teh squadleaderz bad!11!!"
But really, I think CodeRedFox is more or less correct. I noticed the same thing after .7 and .8 came out. Once people get used to the maps and new elements, the number of good squadleaders will increase exponentially.

Yeah, the new release brings in the "wow" factor, and maybe also because the Squad leaders want to try out all the new features; Vehicles, Weapons etc.

I may so have seen a increase in integrated teamwork. People in the server that I administrate now defend much more and take a far more strategic approach to squad leading. Many more firebases are being built. But I have seen ridiculous squads throughout the 3 day span of the patch as well. Like a =sf (or whatever the name was) squad with only two clanmembers with both HAT kits. They died immeadiately.

There are many locked squads, and some fail teams now and again but the game has changed and we need to wait through the "new stuff omg" phase so we can get back to normal. Ask the clan guys for invites they can always use a hand, I have done this in the past with around the time of new releases with =BW=, PF, Zulu, and many others and met some great people. You could always make your own VOIP INF or otherwise named squad and see if you can switch of squad lead round to round if your not a fan of being in charge.
If you see us GiBWRs guys we have been breaking up into 2 squads to get more pubbers in on some good team-play as best we can. If you see us on, just ask for an invite if its locked. If we aren't holding the spot for someone from the last round then its yours.

It is more like "I dont for THIS reason, maybe that is the reason ALL THOSE GREAT SQL are doing something else as well."

The great SL's realize they need good SM's to be effective, so they're busy training all of us new guys because, well, they're GREAT!
I guess that would just leave mediocre SL's around to shun us new members by locking their elite 3 member SQs
Might be a possibility.

I'm not the worst SL there is, but I've been avoiding squad leading. Most of the squad members I've played with in 0.9 so far didn't care much about the SL's instructions. So, I'd rather keep myself from stressful situations for now...

Just remember to use fear as a means to command you're members, it's only for making sure they get home alive (not as much deaths on the score list's).
If theres someone behaving out of order just kick him so the other guys don't get any ideas

The matter is: most of the squad members when I lead don't actually misbehave. They just get lost. Especially the medic, who is often told to revive somebody, but doesn't know quite exactly what to do or where to go. And that's just a matter of inexperience, most of the time, which does not justify kicking someone out of a squad.

Well don't let them get lost and wait for everybody to regroup, then when you move make sure you're members stick whit you at all times. If they start going off by themselves warn them and tell them to rejoin immeadietly or join a new squad.
And if you want a lead a succesfull squad you need to be prepared to kick someone, i rather not kick the new guys who are actually willing to do as they're told but then again that doesn't happen too often

Where'd all the good people go?
I find that if you play on good servers, I normally find good squads.

I know it's wrong but it works and I got kicked for it anyways. But my one squad member kept shooting and shooting out of no where giving away our position and got us killed twice so when we regrouped I said shoot once more and you'll see what he happens, So he did, I plugged him, got kicked. End o' story. 80% of admins don't listen to me when I ask them to kick someone.

As an officer I am tempted to do this often. You must restrain yourself though. Two years ago I would pistol whip a squad mate w/o a second thought, but overtime I have grown more understanding. It is usually just a kick that follows blatant insubordination...this is a much more drama free approach.
On topic: I dislike leading the smurf army even more when new releases come out, as I have to hold people's hands through the match. As such, I only lead my clan as of late. It will get better in a month or so when the new players either get with the program or go back to COD:MW2
