From my own experience as well as many similar reports in the Support forum, I've noticed that the new .exe-only launch is buggy for many people. I am able to run many other mods as well as old versions of PR from the mod menu in BF2. I would like to know how to modify PR so I can launch it the same way I could in previous versions. If coding experience is required, I would appreciate someone else helping me out.

I am 95% sure this isn't possible. The pr.exe contains a number of important functions and isn't just there for show. For now you will just have to settle with launching through a desktop shortcut like the rest of us
