few questions

hello all new to forum and game.

About myself, well im in the forces currently and great life.

First question is:

Is this game supposed to be realistic or just an attempt to be a better BF2 with more life like guns and maps?

Second question really depends on the first, As i been playing a while online with game and as i consider myself a good shot in real life i hoped to do same in game( cocky i know am)

Thing is, i pretty terrible, i find when i see contact and engage all my shots miss, yet i aim perfectly and they are centre mass in crosshare but allways miss, moving targets seem to "lag" my shots away and fall short.

Same issue with sniper weapon systems, all my shots seem to go no where, even though i get perfect head mass with crosshare.

Bassically, how realistic is game mech? ( i know that it isnt going to be at all lifelike but could somone exsplain how much it is and where it begins)

cheers

The point of the mod is to create a teamwork based game which enforces people to act in a realistic matter, the reason you arnt hitting any thing is because you have to aim for a while before shooting..

Keep your weapon scoped and count to 4 or 5, then shoot...

When it comes to the sniper rifle you have to keep it steady for 8 sec before shooting, but if you read the PR Manual it explains everything :-)

Edit: If your in close range, you should probably just go for a quick spray and hope that the bullets hits ur opponent

Is that THE roadrunner?

More attention to detail and a more 'realistic' approach to modern warfare as much
as you can get on a 32 player team with a reduced map size. It's certainly not a military simulation.
But I love the teamwork aspect over any of the 'other' Multiplayer online military games.

Providing you have allowed for settle time/bullet drop or whatever etc as explained then it may
be latency that's causing you to miss apparent head shots.

We can't have 'real' weapon sway with this engine. The devs had to use random deviation instead, so basically, there's always a random chance of the bullet not hitting. The accuracy is increased as you wait, but when you shoot shortly after moving, it takes some time till the maximum accuracy is reached. And even the best accuracy still has some random deviation.

Additionally, there is always the latency factor in online games.

Basically the other posters summed it up, but your best bet is to go to an empty (no players) Coop Server and play around with the guns, thatll give you a decent feel for the accuracy of the weapons.

On sniper rifles, you can press "3" again to activate a breathing sound for audio que of when your accuracy will be at maximum.

On regular rifles, count to atleast 3.

Based on what i seen in game now am i rhgit in saying:

Rifles and most machine guns need around 5 secs of "stillness" to achive good shooting, with around 1-2 secs between each shot.

Snipers are 8 secs then 4 secs per shot,

On snipers ect, is the marksman the same? or is it like rifle?

Sniper wise you said press 3 for breathing cue but with sniper you have "deployed and" un "deployed" so pressing 3 wouldnt work in deployed mode,(what the differqnce between the two modes?

The marksman is different then the sniper kit. Marksman gets a shovel , gernades, and it has deployed and undeployed mode. You can't activate the breathing sound on marksman either. Snipers have colored smoke, a side arm, and a laser targeter thing to call in CAS. You can activate the breathing sound on snipers by pressing 3 and no they don't have deployed/ undeployed mode. The marksman and sniper are just used for different purposes. Usualy I think of a sniper as more of someone who just provides intel to commander and lazes targets for jets/helicopters. Marksman is someone who sticks with a inf squad to hit targets from far away if needed. This is why they don't get sidearms, because they're usually with 4 or 5 other people that they don't need one while a sniper is usually alone or with 1 other person so it's critical he has some sort of self-defense is someone gets close to him.

And of course the right servers are a must now that the mod just have come out such as RT Mumble, Tactical Gamer, Tactics and teamwork people can probably say other servers who are good as well, but some servers are better then others teamwork wise in my opinion, but you should just stick to 2-3 servers when you become regular its easy to get some really good matches with people.

I would recommend to try out mumble you can get it here:

The idea of Project Reality is to get things as close to realism as possible in the BF2 engine without sacrificing game play and fun in the end result.

As far as you accuracy problems look up how deviation works and you should be fine.

cheers for info.

Got a question on the scope:

I been told and from what i read that in game sniper/ marksman crosshare works fine for upto 600mtrs, then after that you have to ajust aim.

Does each bar on crosshare/scope = a distance? ie each elavation = X amount of metres.

I ask this as if i was going to take target out at 600+ metres i want to be sure first shot kills so wonder how far to aim above ect.

Lastly anyone actually killed somone with marksman/sniper while they move? any tips?

well yeah what i usually do is my spotter will set the distance to the target and if the target is kinda far away i aim a little higher to allow for the bullet drop, after playing you learn how much you need to aim though

i wouldnt alway go for the headshot either as a sniper you want to aim for where your least likely to miss
