Squad-Leader Radio: Use it!

Just thought I'd post this up here since it seemed to very under used. Now I only managed to play PR .9 2 weekends (for long periods of time tho

) and havent seen it used much.
Just to clarify: You can mark almost, if not everything on the map with it, like the Commander can do. This is very handy for alerting your team of anything. Yesterday on Qwai and Operation Archer (T&T), I seemed to be the only squad-leader who used it. Its so much easier if you won your local fight and are looking for something new to do and you can just open the map and see reports off other squads there.
The procedure (not perfect yet) I use is to fall back slightly on contact and let my SM's deal with the shooting while I wip out my Radio. Set a marker on the contact, and mark it on the map. Than move back to the line and help fight the enemy.
Anyone got any better ways of using it? Or any cool story's to tell? I just thought this usefull tool needed some exposure to make sure people are going to use it

Yes.
After notifying my team of a firebase with 2+ full strength squads there, they didn't respond. The instant I marked it, tank support rolled in and obliterated it. I think the visual stimulus of things marking it attracts support like moths to a flame.
One thing that I do NOT like is the fact that it vanishes after a short while, what is it, 2, 3 minutes? Not long enough, I only use it really to place objectives and all that jazz.

It is supposed to vanish after 5 minutes. I personally think that is OK for most target types as they keep moving or are destroyed too often within longer time spans. The only think I would like to keep a bit longer would be FOs and Objectives. I think those should stick around for about 10-15 minutes unless the commander kills the marker himself.

5 mins is the timer, but you can place it again

5 minutes is more than enough. If you marked it and its still there or important to be on the map, mark it again and than type in the teamchat that you need some help on there. Yesterday I marked a static TOW from a FB that we couldnt reach a few times just to alert the APCs it was a no-go area. If theyve seen it a few times they remember it
But your right, marking helped sometimes to get some support. Yesterday my team got attacked heavily on another location so they couldnt really come over, but we marked an intersection that was hostile for infantry and APC's and the team stopped using it.

this is great for pilots, if you know the map, and you know where ther is a FB marked or a AA, you can use the terrain to evade these much easier.

I completely agree Cyber, I often feel like im the only squad leader using it but I do so extremely regularly as I find it very useful indeed. I think the whole idea behind it was simply to allow an extra tool for SLs but its not something that you
have to use.
Would be nice if everyone did though
The procedure I use is similar, I mark the target with a normal squad attack marker and then pull back slightly into cover to set the team target as you do not need line of sight. This gives me the exact range as well, improving the accuracy of the mark. Another feature that I find very useful when calling for CAS is the laser attack markers which can give an exact mark on the lase and no need to type out in chat about where the lase is.

I do and I second that. Especially if you have support aviable. On yamilia or whatever the Can-RUS map is called AA Pee Cees are hungry for Inf markers. If it would be possible to code to differentiate between static objects which do not get deleted and assets that move around and are on a time it would be perfect.
