Well I've had this problem and cant really isolate whats wrong. It only happens when playing the game so I know its not the pc. Anyways I'll be playing normal and suddenly I'll hear some sort of electronic kinda buzzing like sound and then computer restarts. Its not durring certian things its just random. Some days I can play for 6 hours and it will do it, sometimes its the first match I join.

sounds like an overheating problem (sometimes you get wierd graphical artifacts right before the crash)
check your temperatures when ingame
updating gfx drivers might help since they can have some optimizations which decrease heat created by the gfx card

restart may also be due to a critical failure, a bsod is only displayed for fractions of a second then it reboots, turn off auto reboot and google the error code/msg displayed on bluescreen

I've done that and I'll play till it happens again. I'll just post my system specs just for further info. Also I have temperature monitors and when it gets hot it will beep to let me know so I know its not temperature related.

Graphics- Dual Radion HD 4850 with Crossfire.
Processor- Intel Core 2 Quad Pcu Q9550 2.83GHz
Ram- 8Gig
Os- Vista 64
Sound Blaster X-fi Audio

* Also I have checked auto and manual for any driver updates. They are all up to date and going fine.

there appears to be some problems related to Xfi cards - i am not sure if this is related but certain BSODs are known to be connected to it

solution is to not select "Xfi" but rather "Hardware" in BF2/PR audio options - and set the quality from "Ultra" to "High"

Same happens here...
SnipingCowards solution works flawlessly, but I don't like that my xFi is not used to its full capabilities in PR. If I buy the card (which I originally did extra for BF2), I want to use it.
Do you think Creative needs to update the driver or can the PR team do something for that?
Im on Windows7 btw.

The thing is its not crashing when loading a map. It crashes while I'm playing. I'll be just doing the normal stuff in game then suddenly strange noise out of audio and computer restarts. I've changed the audio so its hardware and not xfi.

Try running with just one 4850.
I´ve heard that BF2 had problems running CrossFire in high-res. Don´t know if it has been fixed.
Oh and did you check your cpu temp?

it worked fine for me before 0.9, so its probably fixable by the pr team
