[XP] BF2 CTD when selecting X-fi in sound options

When I select X-fi in the sound options and press apply my game ctd's. I have tried it on vanilla and with PR loaded and it does it on both. I just got this sound card (X-fi XtremeMusic) I should be able to select X-fi right? If able too, how can I fix this?

XFi cards are known to cause issues

reduce quality from "Ultra" to "high" (https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f360-g ... ost1259147)

update your drivers!

i am sure there is a solution for this, please search through this forum: https://www.realitymod.com/forum/f357-p ... od-support

I have an auzentech xfi prelude... I bluescreen after every map load if I set my sound to "Creative Xfi"

I had to set it on High and its fine.

Thanks for the help guys, but I fixed it. I am not sure how though, I just uninstalled my drivers, used driver sweeper, restarted, re installed the drivers and it works now. I am not sure why it didn't work the first time, maybe something got clucked up in the installation or maybe I still had remnants of my old creative card's drivers, even though I did driver sweeper after I uninstalled them. I don't know and I really don't care lol I am just glad it works.

Also, I just wanna say thanks to you dev's who made the sounds. I didn't think they could get any better.

A mod can lock this now if needed.

do any of you have huge cracking sound when loading a map, sometimes completely numming the card needing a reboot, sometimes going back to normal after 30 seconds ingame. very very irritating.

another question: what is the difference between ultra high and high anyway ? Can the human ear hear this , or is it more channels and stuff like that
