Possible laggy map fix

As many other people, I was getting FPS lows, and lag on certain maps. After playing with my video settings, I saw that my resolution was not the same as my desktop. Soon enough, I changed, tested, and played LAG FREE on all maps.

I am not sure, if this is just me, or if in deed it is a FIX, but it worked for me.

Your desktop screen is 640x480 or something then?

I did that a long time ago. Didn't change anything, fallujah and lashkar still lagged.

Wont effect it that much I don't think. I guess you just lowered it and have more frames now?

I'm just talking about something I know absolutely nothing about here, but..

Maybe reducing the screen resolution on your desktop freed up enough resources that were being used to render Aero, etc. just enough to stop the lag in PR for you?

Alt-Tabbing to desktop and back to the game helps occasionally.

Your solution seems simply something that works only for you and problems that people have specifically. The problems lie within the Client. I lowered setting to try and limit the problems I was getting to no avail.

afaik aero turns off automatically when any kind of 3D applications runs, at least for me pr works that way even when it is windowed (for monitoring purposes) and brought on top then all aero effects become off and whatever theme you have it switches to windows basic theme which in its turn shuts down wdm.exe proccess which consumes precious ram.
So shouldn't be any problem which might be caused by aero here.

That would make it framerate worse if anything.
Lower resolution. Higher FPS.

It's also confusing when you say "Lag", "Lag" is when you have latency lag well that's what I hear and was thought, when someone says "I have Lag" you thing very high ping, when someone says "I have low FPS on that game" you think that he needs to lower his settings or get a better video card.

But everyone's different.

Lag means both things equally.

My system had 6 gb of RAM. PR 0.9 worked perfectly even if I alt-tabbed in and out of the game frequently. There was enough RAM so that there was no lag caused by things swapping in/out of memory. I do web dev so at any time I would have at least 3 different browsers open (firefox, IE, chrome), vmware running linux, Eclipse IDE, Mysql Admin, 5-6 query browsers, OneNote, Photoshop, Illustrator, and various services running in the background. I had to remove 2 gb of RAM since my bro's system couldn't handle PR 0.9 on 2gb of RAM. Right away, I noticed significant "lag" issues with most maps in PR. I now resort to closing everything before starting up PR to avoid the lag. PR works smoothly on 1680x1050, every thing on high, on an E8400, 8800 GT 512mb.

Hope this helps some one.
Nathan.

Yes so out of the 5000 people playing PR every day none runs it in desktop resolution.
