i suggest you use a download manager like "FDM", GetRight, FlashGet or a BitTorrent-Client. Those programs check the files integrity automatically and will make sure the download is not corrupted - they can even resume downloads (i.e. if the connection gets interrupted)
you can even use them to fix your broken files and not have to download the whole thing again but just the corrupted part (please refere to their manuals)
