[909] Mounted SAW overheating

The "overheating" effect on mounted M249s (for example in the Basrah VCP) should be removed. Why is it that an Automatic rifleman can cap off belt after belt with an M249 while the mounted version of this machine gun needs to "rest" every 4 to 5 seconds?

Balancing purpuses? It might be a bit overpowering since the mounted gunner doesn't have to settle and can duck into cover while the gun reloads.

Agreed, and the overheating on most GPMGs and HMGs needs to be removed or toned down a lot as well.

Like, a GPMG is pretty much designed to fire in bursts of 20 at short intervals. . .

IMHO the mounted machineguns were added to make fixed positions easier to defend in the first place. Why not make them on par with their "man portable brothers".

I would say they are better then their moble counter parts when used correctly.

Well take the Fallujah mounted M249's. If the target is even just outside of the dome of death, its nearly impossible to hit them because of the lack of ironsights on the darn thing. Like the RHIB-mounted M249s, and the ones on the Canadian Jeep, the mounted ones should have a ironsight mode. Otherwise useless.

IRL if you put belt after belt down range your barrel will start to over heat. Now IRL you could keep firing until the barrel actually melted and the weapon broke. But after 200-300 rounds straight through the barrel will be overheated and your accuracy will go out the window. Since we can't simulate this in PR we force you to do what is done IRL, fire in short bursts.

You can actually overheat the PKM if you shoot it constantly.

I figured that out on iron ridge after militia got so bored we tk'd our own cache after firing in the air for 10 minutes.

The lack of ironsights or a scope is a bigger problem.

Learn to fallow the tracers. Not that hard in my opinion.

Working on it!

Will bring up the discrepancy in a chat next time but over all overheating was introduced to control your fire discipline. Realistic, not really, but players do not have to worry about over heading a barrel or worry about fire discipline and they wont. It will be just a constant stream of fire power, which is NOT how its done in RL.

Control your finger and you wont over heat.

It's too much though.

Using realistic fire rates it overheats and can't be used for a million years. Needs to be looked into.
