Siege at Ochamchira - what's the point?

I don't get the point of this map? Why make this beautiful 2x2 km map with all the terrain details and statics it has, when Brit team cannot even leave the factory/docks and all the fighting happens in 500x500 m area? Currently 80% of the map is practically useless. What a waste.
Limiting all the fighting into docks makes this map a PR version of Karkand - too many players in too small area. I think Brits should be able to strike back and go search for attacker's FOBs and other assets.

Its more like scenario...
Brits got pushed back and are doing their last stand or something...

Just because its 2Km it doesn't mean that every inch of it needs to be used up.

But stuffing all 64 players into such a tight space is not good for game play :/

Depends on who you ask, I think having less squad vs. squad fights is fun.

Brits should have their "first line" outside the docks, I agree completely. I would also put a bridge or something to western side of the docks, because right now Militia can only attack from the east, making it boring for Militia. Sure you can swim and climb up the ladder on other sides, but it is hard because there's only 2 flags which to capture first.
One of these two would make gameplay a lot better:
1) Give Brits some flags outside the docks and remove a couple of flags from the docks
2) make all flags captureable from the start
I think I actually prefer the second idea.

I totally agree clueless.
To be honest, I don't even know why the mapper wasted his time on the train lines and little villages and whatnot
if you don't even go near them. Even as Militia you bypass them alot.
10% of the map in use is just silly, and its so badly designed (the docks) that its still no fun there either. Overall probably the worst map in 0.9, empties the server PRETTY good when it comes on.

I haven't played this map much, but I've played it a few times, I say that area of British controlled land is big enough, they have plenty of towers and whatnot to hide/climb in. So then the space there is nice.
I've seen some people on the British faction come out of the dock/facility area on the hunt of FOBs or Infantry. Let's say, "Force Recon".

its still a fun map, though as militia I find it very hard to get a organised assault going on while the brits are able to charge around the forest, its the 7 gates syndrome imo.
If your team knows its going to be attacking, and it knows the enemy have a prepared position, why not bring a heavy weapon to be able to make a hole?
7gates had the same problem, the Brits attacked a Castle.....with trucks.

Can still attack fine. We had two squads attack from the west, swam across while a pkm covered our approach, climbed up the ladders and killed all the brits and capped the flag.
I personally like the map, so many people now have wanted a defending map, now we have one and first thing they do is start bitching about how much of the map is used. Thats what happens when you make a purely one side defensive map. By keeping them in one area it concentrates the British defense, they wouldnt spread themselves out from outside of the compound. Makes it a challenge for the Militia to get to them *and ive still seen Militia win*

As soon as a map begins the server becomes empty. On most servers, where I played, admins changes the map. Playing this map is not interesting, although the card itself is very beautiful.
It would be much better if the Militia attacked the British flags placed throughout the map and in the end the British defended the last flag on the docks. As association with Dunkirk!

Yes it would be cool if all the British flags were capable from the start

From what I recall the flags are there and the Militia spawn is so far away as to give the Brits a time to bolster a defense with MG's and whatnot, but this assault mindset hasn't really translated as well as it should...

I kind of agree with the op.
I like the map, but it does seem an awful waste of the terrain. It would be good if there were a couple of flags that the Brits hold but can't retake in the woods, once these are lost they have their last stand on their factory island.

I planned to make a suggestion about this map but I give the feedback here.
Whoever made that map, it's just the type of a map I love: Nice forests, some open ground, factory areas etc so thumbs up for that.
But for the love of something, give us alternative layer which has flags around the map. I feel so disappointed everytime I play the map and think what kind of intense firefights there could be around the map area.
Now it's just mostly British sitting at the docks area and Militia trying to come in.
