Hello,

Description:
Now this bug I am having is quite random so I am just going to point out what it is.
Sometimes when I load a game and play, The ground doesn't show up, as in I can look through it. Its not there ... I searched through this forum to see if other people have it.
now I have seen 2 threads who have the same problem but changing settings solved it
for them but doesn't work for me, I also tried reinstalling the game (Twice) but that didn't
solve it either.

This is my computer :

Operation system: Windows 7 ultimate 64x
Processor: Intel(R) Core 2Duo CPU E8400 @3.00GHz
Graphic Card: Nvidia Geforce 9800 GTX+ 2GB
Motherboard: Asus P5QL-E
RAM: 4gb
PowerSupply: Fatality 550W
SoundCard: SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeGamer

Steps to Reproduce:
Mmh wouldn't know, I installed Bf2 patched it to the latest version, then got 0.9 and installed it. got the bug right after so don't know how I got it.

Tested On:
Bug is random, sometimes I don't get it and sometimes I get it on the same map.

-Game mode: I get it for both AAS and Insurgency but also on skirmish and other game modes

Video Settings:
I played a lot with the settings, from highest to medium or even low. This doesn't seem to solve it.

EDIT 2: Ahh sorry just read the bit about trying to change settings, it's quite late at night. I promise you the answer lies in the settings, you probably haven't completely wiped the shader cache in the BF2 MyDocuments folder. Here are some improved instructions...

Stick to vBF2, forget PR for the moment.

1). On Win 7 Go to "Libraries/Documents/Battlefield2/mods/BF2/cache" and delete everything in there
2). Run BF2, open the settings page turn static, dynamic lighting / shadow all to medium and turn antialiasing OFF.
3). You'll get the message "game must be restarted" so restart
4). Launch BF2 check the settings are as you just did and load a single player BF2 map to optimise shaders, Great Wall is best since it has this issue 100% of the time if broken.
5). Are things normal?
6). If so you can apply antialiasing, restart the game.
7). Load another single player map to optimise shaders and check again.
. If this works you can now try to run PR.


This is the only way round it afaik, something due to how the lighting or number of lights is handled by the card. Set to medium is should run without this issue, set to high this issue just comes back now and then. You can run lighting on high but have to disable anti-aliasing and mess around with nvidia control panel for an absolute age and it just looks awful without AA. Best stick lighting on medium and have AA again.

So I did the thing with the cache and did all the settings in Bf2 and all the restart stuff just like you said, Now I have to mention that when I went to video settings in bf2 they already were on Medium and I didn't get the problem at Great Wall. Actually I never had the problem in Bf2. so after I did everything I start Pr and joined a server with Muttrah City since I know I have the bug a lot there, And I didn't have it so maybe its fixed but the bug is random, it comes and goes so whether its fixed or not is still to see. if its fixed you probably wont hear me about it again and if its not... well you will hear it.

In the end I only deleted the cache so I doubt it fixed but if it is it would be great.

Are you ALT+TABBING during loading? I swear I remember someone somewhere sometime saying that when they alt+tab while loading a map their textures get messed up. If so, try not doing that .
