For the Love of God, Give the Sniper a Radio! :D

I know the whole Idea of not giving the Sniper a Radio is to increase Intel gathering teamwork. However, no one is ever willing to go Squad Leader Kit with a Sniper. On Muttrah for Instance, there is usually a CAS Squad with a Cobra Pilot + 2 Attack Huey Pilots + 1 Squad leader. Most the time the squad is locked and its a big hassle getting in there and then your very effective because you can't mark targets exactly, you have to give a approximate grid blah blah... Thats why I make my own squad but if I don't have a partner, and most of the time I do he just prefers to bring a HAT kit not a squad Leader kit...
Anyway just give the Sniper a Radio, I don't care if you get rid of ALL the Bandages

Really it should have a radio so it could be used for the true purpose of recon.

The ability to place a rally point is attached to the Officer kit and not the radio itself, right?
If so, then sure I'd endorse giving snipers a radio for recon.

Radio should be a limited kit. That way a recon squad could be made without an officer. Would be a nice detail for the spotter.

As with 0.9 the SL's pressures and stress are increased it may remove some of his pressure, I was on a good game last night with a good pilot asking for lazes, our SL who is a good SL I got the impression he had too much going on to find the time to laze too.
If snipers could at least laze then less pressure on the poor overworked SL's.

A radio is too bulky for a sniper, GLTD's are all that are needed. Snipers are for recon/taking out necessary targets lasing targets and some other stealthy things a radio would only add to the bulk and take away the stealth aspect of what the sniper is meant to do. A sniper when on patrol should always have a spotter, and the spotter if he has an officer kit can use his radio when certain things are needed.

I lol'ed.
Anyway. were not in WWII so radios dont weigh 45 pounds and require cranking.

A radio would be good because then they could mark targets on the map which i find more important in 0.9. I tend to use them more and pay attention ones on the map.
Radio is a good idea because without a commander the squadleader cant really mark anything otherwise.

Well you can always work with a spotter i.e. officer. Like you are supposed to in a sniper team.

I support it wholeheartedly. Without the Radio, the Sniper kit's alternative role as Reconnaissance is heavily hindered, and sometimes its simply not necessary, or a someone whos willing to spot as a officer is simply not available.

Not to mention the spoter and sniper shouldn't be sitting ontop of each other. With that in mind they wi be seeing diffrent things so the officer might not be able to mark something even if he is pressent.

Ever seen a Russian radio?

I disagree.
A sniper should not be off on his own. Besides the obvious advantages of working with other people, the sniper kit is valuable and should not be running the risk of giving it to the enemy. Giving him a radio would further encourage lone-wolfing as a sniper.

Being a Spotter FOR a Sniper is Boring.

You people don't get it, this isn't real life. There is a max of 32 people on a team. Having a second person in a sniper squad is ineffective to just mark what the sniper reports, just make the sniper be able to do it himself, its also more effective if you have more than 1 spotter for CAS in a squad to be at different Vantage Points.

2 sets of eyes are better than 1. Not to mention an officer with an aim point is far superior protection than your pistol.
They aren't going to remove a realistic part of combat, just because you think the job is boring & redundant.

Tell that to the tank commander. And the loader for that matter. How bout the need to eat and drink.
Point is the devs have made alot of consesions for the sake of game play. As for the radio I don't really care about calling arty but it would be nice if we could streamline the process I'm which the sniper is able to get information to the team.
I can tell you now the devs will not make a spotter kit it has been brought up before. And yes an officer could be used and is but they are forced to ignore some of their more important jobs so the can put a dot on the map. Via an already frustrating radio system.
Also I would gladly trade the ability to laze with the ability to mark on the map.

The tank commander is in-game, he sits in the 50cal. And how would being able to play as a loader who looks at the interior of a tank the whole time, change the combat at all? How would that add to the game at all? Having one or more infantry supporting a sniper changes the combat a great deal, and is a hell of a lot of fun when done right, especially when there's CAS involved.
The process of getting intel from sniper to team is pretty streamlined. Sniper has voip, and the SL has the ability to relay intel to the team, and with the new radio system he can do it all from behind cover, without a commander.

And what if I don't love god?
okay, sounds good. I don't know about today, but vietnam-era snipers generally carried tactical radios with them at all times. I don't see why they wouldn't today
