Offical password? If your bf2 works fine it should work fine for PR.

Hi guys, I don't wanna hijack this thread but i have a similar problem and it beats making a new one.
I started Project Reality yesterday except i could only get in 1 server because all the others i have CD-key invalid problems. I bought my BF2 on steam(which does not have a CD-key to begin with) However I can play on BF2 properly without any CD-key problems.
I've searched a lot about the issue(including the HKEY) and nothing fixes it for project reality alone, because steam didn't give me a cd-key to begin with.
Thanks, and I love the mod despite only playing it for 2 hours.

Not reading anything else, but...
Many steam games like this come with a CD-key; right click on your BF2 icon and look for something regarding view CD key, it might be there...

I had that problem once before, had to roll my pc back a day. I'm not sure if some of the updates mess it up, but it worked for me. That was with Vista 64

I think this problem probably has to do with how PR servers read your registry values/keyhash (which is probably displayed in a different way then has been done in the past where all installation was done through the EA provided APP as opposed to the steam client). I think epoch or robbi could probably step in and give some input

I understand what you mean, i have the Dawn of war 2 and Rome total war which allow me to check the CD key.
but the point is i can play BF2 online no problem, only with PR i can't.

You need to buy a new copy of BF2... just go to best buy they are only 10 bucks. I have been through this 4 times already. You cant fix it. Just get the new game and uninstall it and reinstall everything. OR, you can jack with it for 10 hours. Make a tweak here and a tweek there.... try the cd key changer. Then in the end you'll have to buy a new freaking copy anyway and reinstall. Just get it over with.

I wish they existed outside the US, I hear they are awesome stores. If only we had one of your Wall Marts as well.
read: He is in the Philippines, not the US.
Also, the steam version of BF2 is notoriously bad for mod support, would be best ordering a solid copy, or simply buying a CD key and torrenting the game data.

You sure can do that. Or you could just read the
Your CD-key is not valid sticky for free
If you have a Steam version just re-install the game.

Glad that you fixed it. To shed some light on why it may work for BF2 and not PR is that the CD-Key becomes encrypted when you are logging in for the first time, which somehow messes up the CD-Key in the registry. If it is encrypted for BF2, then it might not be recognized by PR. Thus the Registry fix that you did, entering the CD-Key in Capslock fixed it, so that the CD-Key is now readable.

Tell you what, if you can't find a fix for this, Give me a PM and I'll buy you a copy and you can use the cd-key I buy from bestbuy. Provided you use Paypal of course.
It should only be six bucks and I use the torrented dvd to install anyway since my 3 CD's snapped in half. That was a fun day.

Wait a moment, you tried to enter it in small letters first and it didn't work?
If so I should probably mention it is case-sensitive in the guide

So all i need is a CD-key, and i can use that with my steam version of the game?
I have to correct myself though, I don't think the problem is exactly with PR because i can join about 1 or 2 servers(PR and without any people.) and i can join all on BF2.
And so I still have the problem where servers with a good ping have CD-key invalid and where servers with awful ping(500+) get me in no problem. Good to know chuckman got it to work though.
